According to the Hollywood Reporter, JOHNNY DEPP is set to star in the upcoming Warner Brothers film 'Shantaram,' which follows the misadventures of a heroin addict on the lam.
The movie will be based on GREGORY DAVID ROBERTS' loosely autobiographical novel of the same name, and the screenplay will be adapted by Oscar®-winning writer ERIC ROTH ('Forrest Gump'). Depp will serve as the film's producer.
I wish Depp would stay away from portraying druggies ("Blow"). I'm sure he'll have plenty of his own personal experiences to draw upon (*cough* Kate Moss* cough), but still...It's not a stretch for him.
