Default Pirates of the Caribbean hits $300 million

Pirates is fastest film to $300m
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/entertainment/5209112.stm
The film beat the record previously held by Star Wars: Episode III

The second Pirates of the Caribbean film has reached the $300m (£162m) total at the North American box office faster than any other movie in history.

Dead Man's Chest also generated more money in its first three weeks than its predecessor managed in six months.

It has remained the top film, taking $35m (£19m) over the weekend.

Spooky tale Monster House made its debut at number two, followed by another new entry, Lady in the Water.

Also entering the top 10 were Clerks II and My Super Ex-Girlfriend. Monster House, which follows a group of children on an adventure around the scary home of a mysterious neighbour, generated $23m (£12m).

Lady in the Water - from the man behind The Sixth Sense, M Night Shyamalan - stars Paul Giamatti as a property manager who discovers a water nymph living underneath a swimming pool.

It earned $18m (£10m), less than the debuts of any of his other releases over the past seven years.

You, Me and Dupree, with Owen Wilson and Kate Hudson fell one place to four, while Little Man, which stars Marlon and Shawn Wayans, was down from two to number five.

Clerks II is the story of two lazy workers and the sequel to Kevin Smith's low-budget breakthrough film from 1994.

It took $9.6m (£5.2m), while My Super Ex-Girlfriend, featuring Uma Thurman as a needy superheroine, generated $8.7m (£4.7m) over the weekend in North America.

I loved it! I didn't care for the first one, didn't even remember the plot details from the first! But I thought everything worked so well, the story, the performances, the action. Davy Jones has got to be one of the most memorable characters in the history of motion pictures.

I can't wait for part 3!

Eh. I loved the first one, even bought it the day it came out on video. This one was way too long and way too short on Jack Sparrow. It was a paltry sequel in every way. I'm suprised the second and third weeks have done so well.

What I like about the 2nd was watching the 1st wasn't a necessity. I thought it was a really good sequel. However, I do agree it was long but I didn't think it was too long and Jack Sparrow wasn't in it enough.
I can't wait for the 3rd installment!

I agree whole heartedly Bella, I needed WAY more Jack for as long as that damn movie was.

And I liked the first one so much, I bought it about 2 weeks before it came out (check your local videogame stares. they usually have the movies weeks in advance). This one was only good because Johnny is so good, and he kisses that hussy instaed of me!
