Village People Cop blames Disco for his drug addiction
Village People policeman blames "disco"We reported back in October that Victor Willis, the "cop" in Village People, was on the run from the law in California. Well, Victor was caught and has gone up against the beak. Victor pleaded no contest to charges of possessing cocaine, crack and a loaded gun when stopped by traffic police. And for giving the police a false name and then going on the run for six months. He faces either a spell in rehab or two years in jail when he's sentenced on 1st September. The cop says he's now sober, for the first time in 25 years, and blames everything on "the excesses of the disco era that many artists like me found difficult to shake almost 30 years later." Still, it's not all bad. Victor's got a book deal and plans to tour as the cop next summer, if he's not in the big house getting bummed in the showers.popbitch

Put yourself in his position. Of course he got addicted. Can you imagine being a Village Person, playing fab celebrate gay music in the 70's? He had most of his drugs thrown at him back until the music died...whew!

If I had to sing "In the Navy" and "YMCA" continually, I would take drugs too. LOL

During the disco era, I think it's probably safe to say it'd be hard to find anyone who wasn't snorting blow.

I have friends who tell tales. Crack wasn't big then but you could go to coke parties where blow was the main event and they had BOWLS of crack rocks.

that's bullshit - I'm from that era, we used to hang out with the Detroit Lions, and if you had any self control you didn't take that stuff. I preferred to know what the hell I was doing
