Jessica Simpson is so over!

Is Jessica Simpson still a hot cover girl? Or is Nick Lachey's ex-wife going cold on the newsstands?

OK! magazine — which reportedly paid Simpson up to $1 million to pose for half a dozen covers, not to mention a nice commission for her PR rep — apparently isn't moving the merchandise.

I hear that sales of the Jessica cover of OK!'s July 24 issue — about 540,000 — were 10% lower than the magazine's Jennifer Aniston-Vince Vaughn cover the week before, and 15% lower than the Britney Spears cover three weeks earlier.

"Jessica was their lowest sale in seven weeks," a glossy-magazine insider told Lowdown yesterday. "She's so over. She's a bargain-basement star who can only sell $1.99 magazines at best these days."

Simpson's flack, Rob Shuter, retorted: "A silly comment from someone who sounds like an 'outsider,' not an 'insider.'" He noted that Glamour mag — priced at $3.99 — has booked Jessica for its October cover. OK then!

Much as I dislike Jessica this is a stupid statement.

Jessica has always had low sales. Ashley surpassed her record sales for all of Jessica's albums in the first month her debut album went on sale. Jessica also doesn't tour because she can't pack a crowd. I'm not the least bit surprised she can't sell a magazine.
It's refreshing to know that people actually want more then t&a & we all know that Jess has absolutely nothing relevant to say to about anything at all.

I went to a Jessica Simpson concert in Houston in 2004 (part of her Reality tour) and it was glaringly undersold. The entire top level was empty and the lights had been turned off to make it less obvious. The ground level was not full, either. I actually felt embarrassed for her. I used to be a huge Jessica Simpson fan, but it's obvious that she's not the same person she claimed to be on Newlyweds (which is how she got all of her fame), and I think she lost a huge majority of her fans because of it. I'm not interested in reading lies that she and Papa Joe have concocted to turn the public against Nick in a pathetic attempt to salvage her reputation.

I thought Ashley couldn't sell tickets. Didn't she just cancel a ton of tour dates because of it?

Ha! The way she gets coverage in the tabloids, you'd think she was a huge star. I don't keep up with her "music career" so I had no idea that she couldn't even sell a decent amount of concert tickets. I guess the message is loud and clear: no one ever wanted to hear her sing, they were only interested in her as eye candy.

I agree that without Nick, she's not even remotely interesting now.

The only reason she's as famous is she is is due to the fact that she let the whole world know what a moron she is - now that the public is over the 'Chicken of the Sea' idiocy, she's over.

Can she even sing? I can't remember now, but I know that her album sales were always abysmal and she can't act her way out of a sack.

^^ She does that pseudo seizure type of singing. You know the kind, mouth opens and closes 10 times/second for one note, hands flapping in air. I've always been so irritated by this that I've never really listened to her voice.
