TMZ has obtained a copy of the official birth certificate of the elusive Suri Cruise, daughter of Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes.

The document, filed with the Los Angeles County Register-Recorder/County Clerk, was filed May 8, 2006. (Click on document to download) There are several interesting items of note:

First, St. John's Hospital has a policy of filing birth certificates within 10 days of birth. In this case, Suri was born on April 18 but the certificate was not filed until May 8, 20 days later. An official from the hospital told TMZ that the delay occurred because they needed a signature from the parents or a representative of the parents certifying birth, and that person did not come in until May 4. The person who signed is labeled "friend." The signature is not legible.

Also, the "Attendant or Certifier" who signed the certificate -- Anne Heffernan, RNC -- was not in the delivery room and did not see the baby. But a hospital rep tells TMZ that Heffernan is authorized to sign when the doctor is not available. A hospital rep said "normally the doctor signs" but it isn't a requirement.

Finally, the hospital rep said that the circumstances that triggered the eventual signing of the birth certificate were that Suri needed a passport and a birth certificate is a prerequisite to obtaining one.

Yeah, too much controversy surrounding the whole birth. When she was pregnant I really did think it was real, now I'm starting to wonder if it was all a sham.

I delivered at a birthing center with midwives and we had to sign prior to leaving the facility.

^^ I gave birth in a hospital and I also had to sign the birth certificates before I was allowed to take the babies home.

This whole baby thing was supposed to make Tom Thumb look normal. Too bad it didn't work.

This is all such bullsh*t!!! There is NO baby. But the lengths that these $cientologists will go to, and the fact that they can bully/threaten/pay off pretty much anyone, even a hospital nurse & city clerk, ASTOUNDS me. Money and power really can get you anything. So anyway, this so-called birth certificate doesn't mean squat to me.

I mean, with so many people talking about how they don't even believe there is a baby, WHY on earth would TomThumb NOT have the birth certificate filed within the standard, timely manner??? Well, it's because during that extra time (between the so-called *birth* and when the birth certifcate was filed), TomThumb & his $cientology cronies were finangling a way to have a birth certificate for a baby that doesn't exist made & signed by an actual hospital employee. And YES they absolutely could get someone to go along with their ridiculous scheme.

A prime example is the Lisa McPherson case (a woman who was killed by the $cientologists for not cooperating with them--her story is all over the Internet). When Lisa had already been killed at the $ci compound, the $cientologists called up a doctor at a hospital 40 minutes away who was also a $cientologist, and told the doctor what had happened, and he agreed to go along with their scheme. The $cientologists brought dead Lisa to that hospital and the $cientologist doctor participated fully in their big cover-up. The doctor declared, on the official record, that Lisa died of "natural causes" (a heart or lung malfunction or something), even though Lisa's body was severely malnourished and her body was covered in bruises & wounds. The doctor said she died at the hospital, and listed those *natural causes* on her Death Certificate.

So, YES, these rich, powerful, threatening $cientologists CAN get pretty much whatever they want.--Including have officials agree to go along with an untrue story that a baby named Suri was born.

I had to sign birth certificates at the hospital too. I want to believe that they did had a kid but all this stuff just sounds so crazy that I just can't.

I suppose each hospital's policies are different but I also had to have everything filled out before I could bring my kid home. I'm sure with the rush to get "the baby" out of the hospital, they may have delayed this a bit. I can't get past having a friend sign the paperwork though. I would hope no hospital administration or workers could be bought but I suppose money talks.

Her full name is Katherine Noelle Holmes.

They didn't put Toms full name in either. Thomas Cruise Mapother IV.
