Doherty Set to Co-Host 'The View'

HOLLYWOOD - Former Beverly Hills, 90210 star Shannen Doherty will fill-in as a co-host on talk show The View later this month.
The actress joins a growing list of guest co-hosts sitting in after the abrupt departure of Star Jones Reynolds last week, after her contract was not renewed.

Doherty's new reality show Breaking Up with Shannen Doherty premieres on the Oxygen network next month.

She will join forces with people in relationship peril who want to get out of bad relationships, but can't seem to do it on their own.

Doherty will guest co-host The View on July 31 and Aug. 1.

Also scheduled to sit in as co-hosts are American Idol runner-up Katharine McPhee, Dancing with the Stars winner Kelly Monaco and judge Carrie Ann Inaba.

A permanent replacement for Jones Reynolds is expected to be named in the fall.

Where my white women at, you ask? This morning, they were hosting "The View."

Not content to be blandly milquetoast in just their on-camera banter, the co-hosts of the ABC show added the very Caucasian Susan Lucci to the seat formerly occupied by the fired (and African-American) Star Jones.

Whereas Jones would talk about her sex life with husband Al Reynolds with gusto often and unabashedly, Lucci spoke of how her character on "All My Children" would have love scenes "in a coma," sometimes with a green tube up her nose.

Even the audience got into the act, with panning shots of the assembled crowd revealing a decidedly homogeneous group of "View"-ers.

Miami Heat star Alonzo Mourning did his best to provide some minority representation, and pop star Brandy returns tomorrow for her second guest-hosting audition-stint.

Don't hate me, but theres something about Shannon Doughtery that I kind of like. Not love, but like. She's a total bitch, but yet, imho, strangely likeable. Am I the only one to think this?

Well,who knows how it will turn out? I don't think Kelly Ripa seemed like a natural choice to replace Kathie Lee either . They had reduced her storyline on AMC to almost nothing and now she is the female Seacrest. Or the more female Seacrest...
