LIFE STYLE EXTRA (UK) -Tom Cruise has refused to release pictures of baby daughter Suri because of his Scientology beliefs. (That and he's bitter that his offspring isn't as valuable as Shiloh)

The 'Top Gun' actor and his fiancée Katie Holmes celebrated the birth of their baby girl in April but are yet to make their first public appearance together as a family.

It has now been claimed Tom is reluctant to show off Suri because Scientology doctrine teaches followers of the sci-fi cult to avoid taking newborn babies out unless absolutely necessary.

A friend of the actor told Britain's Grazia magazine: "Tom insists he'll do it in his own time. He won't be bullied into showing his world his precious angel. Tom wants to obey Scientology rules about keeping babies out of the public eye."

Tom is a devout follower of the bizarre faith, founded by science-fiction writer L. Ron Hubbard, and is open about his beliefs.

Before Suri was born, it was claimed that Katie would have to give birth in silence.

Scientologists believe babies should enter the world without any outside noise to stop them from being mentally scarred by the delivery.

It is believed the former 'Dawson's Creek' actress gave birth as calmly as possible but did not keep a vigil of silence throughout her labour.

So why were they negociating rates of up to $3 million for pics of the baby when apparently they're not allowed to bring the android out anyway?

Off topic: my girlfriend's friend had a baby who NEVER went outside, now that the toddler's a little older, it CONSTANTLY GETS SICK. Why would anyone want to shelter their child from fresh air and a small, healthy does of sunlight?? What favors does it do for a child?

Crap...crap..crap.... It is so convenient for him to use his religion when he wants... His other children must not be as special as Suri as there were pictures of them when they were small.... Besides they don't need to take Suri out they can take a picture of her inside.. I would be happy with that...

He truly believes religion is going to keep his daughter pure doesn't he? Poor guy. You can't hide her from the world, Tom. Sometimes you protect them so much that when they finally get out into the real world they go nuts because they've been sheltered so long. I can't wait till Suri grows up and becomes Courtney Love with a vengeance...lol

I read in the local mags here in Australia that a london newspaper was all geared up to do the pics and they advertised that there were going to be pics in their mag and then nothing. Not even an excuse. Hmmmmmmmmm???????????
