Eric Benet claims that Halle Berry is a liar

R+B singer Eric Benet has branded ex-wife Halle Berry a liar for telling an American magazine he cheated on her approximately "27 times".

Berry made the scathing comments when probed about the alimony paid to her former spouse, adding she "finds it difficult" to hand over her wages to an unfaithful partner.

But Benet is furious at the comments and insists he hasn't received a penny from the X-Men beauty.

Now he's pleading with the star to stop her outspoken attacks in the media because it's making life for both him and his daughter India unbearable.

He tells the New York Post, "If she said that, that I cheated on her 27 times, then she is simply lying. Straight out, that's a lie and a gross, gross exaggeration of what happened in our marriage.

"I've admitted my indiscretion and apologised and took responsibility. I think maybe it's time for Halle to take some responsibility, instead of constantly casting herself in this victim mode and implying her commitment to our marriage was without flaw.

"I have refrained from ongoing attacks on her, and she needs to do the same. She should leave me and my daughter, India, in peace.

"Halle used to insist she loved India, though she hasn't seen her and has barely communicated with her in years, and not because I've stopped her. If she really had any feeling toward my girl, she'd realise how hurtful such statements are. Especially when they are untrue."

A cheater is a cheater - 1 time or 27 but I get this guys point. I feel for the daughter. She can at least send her a birthday gift or Xmas present. Take her to lunch - even if its only once a year. Bitch.

That is terrible about India, I thought Halle even called her "my daughter." If this is true she is a shitty person as India's mom died in a car accident and has no mother.

As far a Eric goes I thought it was pretty much confirmed that he was a sex addict and DID cheat.

IMO, the bottom line here is: Eric Benet is a cheating, lying bastard. Fact: He cheated on Halle, his WIFE.--He admitted it. So, i don't blame Halle one bit for being hostile about the fact that she has to PAY ALIMONY TO THE MAN WHO CHEATED ON HER!!! That's downright ridiculous. He is a loser. How can he stand to even look at himself in the mirror, knowing that he is taking a lot of money every month from the woman that HE cheated on, broke his vows to, & hurt very much??? He's not a "real man", that's for sure. Friggin' loser. I read the interview with Halle that he's talking about. When she said he "cheated on her 27 times", it was obvious she was just throwing a number out there & being sarcastic. (I do that sometimes myself when speaking...It's just a form of light sarcasm & drives the point home a bit more.) When the interviewer asked her how it feels to have to pay alimony to her ex-husband, she said something like, "Oh, yeah it's just great having to dish out money to the man who cheated on me, like, 27 times!". He needs to get over it and move on. Get a life, Eric Benet, you as*hole. You caused enough hurt & negativity.

I personally think there's more to the story than we know about. Who knows what the real truth is in this very personal situation between 3 people? I think Halle did genuinely care very much for India. I remember reading a while back that it was Eric who did stuff to cut off Halle's & India's relationship. Eric Benet is an a*shole. I think he'll do or say whatever makes himself look better in the public eye. The only way he gets publicity these days is when he's bitching in an interview about his ex-wife. And whether he admitted & took responsibility or not, doesn't matter with regard to what i was specifically getting at.--He CHEATED, and that should be grounds for Halle to not have to pay him alimony. Make your own freaking money, Eric; maybe try to have some sort of career other than bashing Halle in the press!

If Halle made her own decision to sever ties with India, i totally agree with you Lakesweetjane that that would be a TERRIBLE thing to do to the poor child. But who really knows why that relationship was severed.

I've felt that she was a selfish bitch ever since that hit-and-run accident she was involved in where she just left and then showed up in court with a tiny cut on her forehead to say that she didn't remember anything.

That is exactly what i remember reading too, Palermo. I thought that was horrible of him to do, since Halle & India seemed so close. Eric was so bitter HE did stuff to sever Halle's & India's relationship. Like you said, he's trash--and HE is the "liar".

Exactly, KD. To not allow his daughter's stepmom (who'd been very involved in her life) to be an active part in her life anymore, is a horrible enough thing to do...all because of his bitterness that Halle wanted to get a divorce and he didn't want to. (Of course she wanted to get a divorce--He openly cheated on her for Pete's sake!) But then to ALSO collect alimony every month from Halle, after cheating on her? Blows my mind that a judge would order that. Very unfair, IMO.
