Brad Pitt says fatherhood is "absolutely sublime". The actor, whose baby daughter with Angelina Jolie is a month old, has also co-adopted her first two children, Cambodian Maddox and little Zahara, from Ethiopia.
He told Newsweek magazine being a father had made him more of an activist on issues such as child poverty.
"Whether you have them or adopt them, they're all blood," Pitt said of his brood. "And the funniest people I've ever met."
The 42-year-old added: "I look at Zahara and imagine what her life could have been.
"You want to grab as many of these kids in your arms as you can.
"They need our help, and we should be doing more."
Pitt, who was named one of 15 people who "make America great" by Newsweek, also spoke about his and Jolie's decision to sell the first pictures of baby Shiloh to People magazine for a reported four million dollars and give the money to charity.
"Knowing that someone was going to hound us for that first photo - and was going to profit immensely for doing it - I just couldn't live with it," he said.
"We were able to turn that around and collect millions for people who are really going to need it."
Shiloh was born in Namibia, where the couple were followed by the world's media, giving them the chance to highlight the African nation's problems.
"It's the first time I've actually felt like we have some degree of control over it," Pitt said.
"I can't describe what an immense relief it is for me."
He also said he planned to get more involved with a project to help rebuild New Orleans.
After Hurricane Katrina he joined forces with the environmental advocacy group Global Green USA, putting up 100,000 dollars to help sponsor an architecture competition to create affordable, eco-friendly, multi-family housing for the city.
"Of course, the ultimate goal is to get the designs built," Pitt said.
"It's a bit of a quagmire down there now, so I see myself getting even more involved in the future."

Re: Brad: 'Fatherhood is sublime'
It's sweet isn't it?
I'm glad he's come out to talk about it - he was kind of over-shadowed by Angelina in the speaking about families thing.

I always love reading reactions to these Brangelina PR moves, by several blogs.

Newsweek recently named Brad Pitt one of “15 People Who Make America Great”, although there are some who might disagree with this honor.
Lauded for bringing much-needed publicity (and money) to impoverished African nations, the article states that Pitt and Angelina Jolie chose to have their baby in Namibia in order to lure the paparazzi to the country. However, Namibia’s National Society for Human Rights alleges that the couple had visiting journalists deported for “harassment”, contradicting their claim that they hoped to attract the media’s attention. NSHR also feels that persuading the government to shut down the border was an abuse of the couple’s power.
Newsweek also mentioned Pitt’s sponsorship of the Global Green USA architecture competition to create affordable, eco-friendly housing in New Orleans and his donation of four million dollars - earned from the sale of new baby Shiloh’s photos to People magazine – to African charities.
However, amidst all the publicity that Pitt’s “happy family” has received, few people ever mention the fact that (if you do your math) Jolie was expecting Pitt’s child before his divorce from Jennifer Aniston was finalized. Although Pitt and Aniston technically separated months before the pregnancy, many blame Jolie – and a suspected affair – for the decline of their marriage.
Many would say that Jolie is the true humanitarian force behind the couple because she has been traveling the globe - volunteering, spreading goodwill, and adopting third-world babies - long before she became romantically linked to Pitt. The article does cite her as the catalyst that caused Pitt to become so politically active, but she was otherwise absent from Newsweek’s list.

Brad Pitt Named To Newsweek's List Of People Who Hang Out With Great Americans
Sensing that her pretty-boy traveling companion and the father of her first biological child might not be getting enough credit for putting up with her "totally, like, annoying do-gooder stuff," globe-trotting, orphan-collecting philanthropist Angelina Jolie graciously allowed Brad Pitt to pretend that having their baby in Namibia was all his idea for Newsweek's 15 People Who Make America Great feature:
If it wasn't for Brad Pitt, most Americans would never have heard of Namibia. They might not know about AIDS orphans in South Africa, or the plight of children in Haiti, or what transpired at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland. Pitt, 42, has been a movie star for 15 years--and a paparazzi target for nearly as long. Celebrity mags have made millions reporting on his love life, and the obsession only intensified when he began romancing Angelina Jolie. So he started fighting back--but not by punching photographers. If paparazzi were going to follow the couple everywhere, Pitt figured they might as well drag them somewhere that desperately needed the world's attention.
Newsweek myopically focuses their entire piece on Pitt's tagalong charity work and his advocacy of eco-friendly architectural design, completely ignoring his groundbreaking contribution to the dumping-Jennifer-Aniston-for-a-much-hotter-piece-of-ass field. We suppose that in another year, the magazine's writers will put this accomplishment in its proper historical perspective and Pitt will finally get the recognition he so richly deserves.
[Note: In fairness to Pitt, wearing the feather boas around their heads in their stolen wedding shower photos was all his idea.]

NewsWeek's list definitely seems like some huge PR move. Where is Bill Gates on the list, Oprah, Warren Buffet just gave away 40billion dollars approx yesterday and didn't make the list either.
As for Brad's mullings, does he think that he sounds pretty cool or smart by using the word 'sublime'? Excuse me while I gag....
I see that Angie finally threw him a bone!!!! Unfortunately with all their stupid PR moves, they are still haunted by their cheating ways and the way they got together. Their union will FOREVER be questioned, hate it or leave it!!!

You can tell he hasn't been a father for very long. I love my kids, but I would never call parenthood 'sublime'.

Oh please as for NSHR we have been reading over and over and over about the "harrassment" but never actually mentioned the cases or against whom it was. I guess the razzies paid them good money so laws can be laid off against them the next time they stalk. anyone who defends these lunatics shouldn't even talk about human rights.
I don't know if Brad deserved to be on the list but then i don't think either one mentioned deserves to be on the list. In fact in order for American to be great, you will need to take that nutcase out of presidency and stop harrasing other countries.

I did see that, , I didn't want to harp on it. He probably did not know in what context to use these words, he thinks he sounds soooooo brilliant and smart for these over-the-top words. He's a nincompoop. I literarilly laughed out loud when I read 'sublime' and had to share, of course it'd be sublime when you don't do jack sh*t but are there to prop the kid up for a photo op, JERK-SHITT!!!.
