'Self Congratulatory' Clooney Slammed
By WENN| Monday, June 26, 2006
HOLLYWOOD - Hollywood agent-turned-documentary maker Pat Dollard has attacked George Clooney's outspoken anti-war stance.
Dollard--the former agent of regular Clooney colleague Steven Soderbergh--is currently making a pro-war documentary about Marines fighting in Iraq.
He was furious when Clooney urged more Democrats to speak out against the war and 'congratulated' himself for doing so.
He tells PageSix.com, "I read something on the Internet in which someone was patting himself on the back for having the courage to oppose the war.
"They actually equate bravery with speaking out against the president because (losing fans) might cost them one less servant at their Italian villa . . . It put me into a black rage and made me sick to my stomach."
Dollard, a republican, also attacked the way supporters of the party in the entertainment industry have been ostracized, adding, "Being a Republican in Hollywood today is not much different than being a communist in Hollywood in the 1950s. I'm not trying to overstate the case, but the reality is there is a blacklist in Hollywood. It's very McCarthy-like. It just shows the hypocrisy of the left."

What happened to freedom of speech? Why is his opinion the only one that can be expressed?

And we all know how accurate "something on the Internet" can be.

I wish stars would just shut the fuck up and do what they are paid to do....
What do I care what their political affiliation is? Either entertain me, or do something stupid for me to talk about....that's it...nothing more.

The only reason why i love George Clooney is for his political stance. He demonstrated he's not a puppet who's only job to repeat after the lines he was given, he has his own comviction.

George seems pat himself on the back a little too much, imo, and that is a turn off. He seems full of himself and that is not hot to me. I like a man who seems humble. JFK, JR was hot as train smoke, too, but he seemed to have soem humility which made him even hotter.

I don't get how anyone should be PRO-WAR. That ain't right. Wars are something that should be avoided at all cost cuz it's usually the ordinary citizens that suffer the most whether they are villagers or soldiers.

ITA! It's not okay for George to oppose war, but it's okay for this guy to advocate the killing of innocent people & military takeover of another country for their natural resources. Where's the justice in that?

The neo-cons are now stating that McCarthy did nothing wrong. I guess this guy didn't hear that bit of dogma yet.

Even though George Clooney as a ...gasp....entertainer, I believe he has every right to speak out as much as he wants. I'm a elementary school librarian and so do I. Somehow no wants to listen to me though. He is a citizen of this country and and he has just as much right as gas Limbaugh to speak his mind.
