Lindsay Lohan addicted to spending money

SHE has the career, the celeb friends and millions in the bank.

But friends say that Lindsay Lohan now has a worrying addiction that's spiralling out of control - though it's not what you might think...

Rather than succumbing to the usual Hollywood vices of drink and drugs, the Teen Queen has become addicted to spending money.

Nothing wrong with that you might think. But Lindsay's problem is that while she's worth almost £4million, she's getting through it at an alarming rate.

Last year alone, the 19-year-old reportedly spent £550,000 just on clothes. And now friends and family fear that if she continues blowing such vast sums, she'll end up with nothing.

"Her closets are overflowing with things such as $8,000 (£4,400) Prada dresses and $2,000 (£1,099) Balenciaga bags," reveals Lindsay's stylist, Rachel Zoe. "She has so many outfits she never wears some of them."

On one spree, the actress, who is flying to London this week for Wednesday's premiere of Just My Luck, which also features McFly, spent £11,000 in 20 minutes and has forked out £55,000 in a day.

A source close to the Mean Girls star, who counts Kate Moss and Madonna among her friends, says: "Lindsay gets a real adrenalin high from spending money and buying expensive things."

One key problem for Lindsay is that while other celebs receive armfuls of free clothes, the redhead is more than happy to pay for things herself.

"She hasn't quite got the hang of blagging things," adds our source. "Lindsay is one of the most photographed stars in the US and if she wanted, say, an expensive handbag, all she'd have to do is get an aide to call and get it in. But it seems she rather just spend money like there's no tomorrow."

Just last month, Lindsay is said to have racked up a £500,000 bill at Hollywood's most expensive hotel, the Chateau Marmont.

She had reserved a luxurious bungalow there for most of last year, even though there were times when she barely visited it.

"Her accountants went mad because she didn't realise she'd accumulated such a massive bill," a pal revealed. "But when you factor in champagne at £350 a bottle and the hotel's personal chauffeur at £380 a day, it all adds up."

Let's hope Lindsay gets a grip on her spending - we'd hate to see her have to take out a Lohan to pay off her bills.
