JOHNNY DEPP LEARNS FRENCH

Johnny Depp is learning to speak French so his children don't think he is stupid.
The "Pirates of the Caribbean" actor - who lives in the European country with his long-term partner French star Vanessa Paradis - took a crash course in the language to keep up with his bilingual children.

He told Britain's OK! magazine: "I still have the world's worst French accent but I'm working on it."

"At least I can understand the language well enough to understand my children."

"They don't have to think their daddy is an idiot!"

Depp revealed that Paradis converses with their children, Lily-Rose and Jack, in her native tongue, but they have to speak to him in English.

He confessed: "I don't want my terrible French to corrupt them."

"My daughter is usually willing to make allowances for me and even says, 'Oh, c'est tres bon, Papa!' (That's very good Dad). I love hearing that."

He doesn't know french yet??? I thought for sure after living in France for that time he would know how to...

That's what I thought, too and isn't he of French descent as well ? (not that it should automatically make him speak French but...)

I've lived in Korea since April 2002 and I still can't count to four
in their language.

I just couldn't be bothered to learn...

I thought he said once he was fluent. Great, so now he's just another damn American who hasn't gotten around to learning the language where he lives.

He's been in french movies & lived there for years - its about damn time he learns the language!

Yes but I would think Korean would be a heck of alot more difficult to learn than french lol. Actually I can't say though as I'm french.

Yea I remember reading something like that where he also mentioned he was ethnically French or something...

Surprising, since I thought immersion was the easiest way to learn a foreign language.
