Angelina Jolie would have adopted baby Zahara even she had been HIV positive.
The Hollywood actress admitted she was relieved when tests showed her 16-month-old Ethiopian daughter was healthy shortly after she became her legal guardian.
She said: "It's a life-changing decision to adopt a child, and to be honest, it was a relief when she wasn't diagnosed with HIV."
Angelina - who also has an adopted Cambodian son, four-year-old Maddox - gave birth to biological daughter Shiloh Nouvel earlier this month and revealed Zahara is jealous of her new sister.
She told America's CNN news network: "Z is jealous because she's still a little girl.
"Maddox loves her. Because when Z came home she was older, she was seven months old. So for Mad it's like having this tiny little pet he can hold and look at."
The 31-year-old star also admitted she was relieved that her feelings for her first biological child were the same as the ones she had for her adopted children.
She admitted: "I was kind of prepared to defend my other children. I was prepared to kind of give them extra love and attention, because something was going to be different about this new one."

Odd statement.......'I was kind of prepared to defend my other children. I was prepared to give them extra love and attention because something was going to be different about this new one.'
What an odd thing to say. Theyre FAMILY..............none of them should be given any more or less love than the other. And the only difference is what Angelina percieves herself or tells her children. Zahara is too young to understand yet.

^^ Right. I wonder if Shiloh will get the shaft in the long run because AJ is so focused on proving she loves her "rainbow" children or her long running guilt about having a biological child might take hold.

I'm relieved I don't have aids either, what a coincidence!
Sometimes I think they just talk to hear their own voices. She wasn't adopted yesterday, why bring it up. I understand that she is relieved but seriously!

Ah crap, now I have to defend Angelina and I hate having to do that. But honestly, wouldn't you be relieved if your adopted child, who was born to HIV parents, didn't have that terrible disease. I would. Any parent would be over the moon that their child wasn't going to suffer.

I believe you have to wait and have them tested several times before you know for sure.

Yeah, like every 6 months or something like that - I just don't understand why they publicize their every thought.

I think this is from her "First Post-Shiloh American Interview" with Anderson Cooper. He was asking about all her children and specifically Zahara because he's done a lot of work with African refugees also.

I think her statement is genuine - my mom and her 4 other sisters fight like cats and cats, and their parents showed them varying degrees of attention and love. My mom is the middle daughter, and feels like her mom never loved her enough....it happens, and angelina said something about not wanting her adopted children to not feel that way.
she kept it real - Love her.

Well no kidding she's relieved! Who in the world would want their child to have any kind of affliction or illness?? Adopted or not??? But I dig that she was implying that if even she HAD been HIV positive that it wouldn't have made a difference.

I know. Female First have a habit of using bits and pieces of articles and interviews from other sources.

It was a wonderful interview on CNN with Anderson Cooper. I truly believe that even her haters would be moved to tears regarding the horrible things that have been done to refugees and the huge amount of help that AJ has given them. Not only has she donated a lot of money, she is very hands on.
Many new moms feel the same way not ONLY from adoptive to bio children (I had those same fears/thoughts) but from mother's who are having 2/3/4 children. Many of my friends have told me while they were pregnant, of their worry that they could not possibly love another child as much as their first.
Z had samonella poison when they got her as did some other children her age in the orphanage. Z was able to be hospitalized and treated, but another child died.

She brought it up because she was asked about it.

It's funny to actually hear an interview in its entirety and then see it mangled and twisted in the gossip the next day
