Britney Spears' publicists were NOT at Matt Lauer interview

june 19, 2006 -- BRITNEY Spears needs guidance. "Dateline" staffers were shocked when they showed up with Matt Lauer to interview Spears last week and found the pop star alone in her Malibu manse. "Neither of her publicists, Leslie Sloane Zelnick orNanci Ryder, showed up," said our source. Spears insisted on doing her own hair and makeup - a regrettable decision. Web sites derided her hair as a "rat's nest" and, when she started crying during the interview, one of her fake eyelashes fell off. "When [the NBC crew] got there, they thought they had the wrong day . . . During the interview, no one was there to rein things in," we're told. Spears, when asked about Kevin Federline being with a pregnant Shar Jackson when they first met, shot back, "Julia Roberts' husband had a pregnant wife when he hooked up with Julia, but no one ever talked about that!" Spears wore flip-flops, a see-through tank and micro-mini jeans. Reps tried to control the damage on Friday. "They asked NBC not to release footage to places like E!," said a source. Asked why Spears was on her own for the interview, Sloane Zelnick said, "Britney is a grown-up and makes her own decisions."

This explains so much. Why she sounded like such an imbecile and looked so horrible. It really sounds like she told her publicists to fuck off when they advised against the interview, she thought she knew what she was doing. She refused their help because they told her something she didn't want to hear. I bet she doesn't even listen to her own mother anymore.

She just doesn't want people telling her what to do, and truly thinks she can do better. What a deluded, arrogant idiot she is to honestly believe you know more than professional publicists and stylists.

Let the professionals do their jobs! They only do it for a living! Jeez. No brains or common sense on that girl.

Hmmm...alot less offensive than I thought it'd be. Setting aside the gum-chomping and quotation marks, she just strikes me as a lost young woman who's cracking a bit. Uneducated and used by everyone around her and trying to take back control. And Matt Lauer is kind of rude and not very respectful at all. I can't imagine him asking some of these questions of a less vulnerable celeb. Then again, he's the guy that got pissed when Madonna denied she was pregnant before the three month mark.

Ewww...and that Madonna kiss is still grim. Madge is going in for the kill, while Britney is just sort of playing the roll. Still yucky.

Oh, and Kfed is a fucking illiterate.

I know NBC had makeup on hand and she even refused them? Wow. Now I really know she has lost it completely. When you are that far gone, it's too late to try to fix it yourself. Her publicists should quit.
