Pete Doherty fined for having traces of cocaine in blood

Troubled rocker PETE DOHERTY has been fined by Swedish police after traces of cocaine were found in his blood. The BABYSHAMBLES frontman was detained after police noticed he appeared to be under the influence of drugs following his performance at yesterday's (16JUN06) Hultsfred music festival. Blood tests later revealed traces of cocaine and tranquillisers in Doherty's system, although police found nothing on his person. He was fined 14,000 kroner ($1,850/GBP1,030) before being released. Another Babyshambles band member - unnamed as WENN went to press - was also fined the same amount for the same offence. Police spokesman ULF KARLSSON says, "He was not in possession of any illegal drugs, so he will not face other charges." Earlier this month (JUN06) Doherty checked himself into a rehabilitation clinic in Portugal in a desperate bid to get clean.
