A month after baby Blue, Geri shapes up
By TOM BRYANT, Daily Mail
After giving birth to her daughter Bluebell Madonna, Geri Halliwell insisted she was in no rush to lose weight.
But four weeks later, she seems to have done just that.
Power-walking in a London park, her figure showed little sign of being a new mum.
Left: Geri looking swell in the park last month.
Right: power walker Geri has slimmed down
In fact, wearing a tight-fitting vest and shorts, she appeared slimmer than before she got pregnant.
The 33-year-old was happy to smile for photographers as she listened to music on her iPod. Yet days after giving birth by caesarian, she said 'all vanity had gone out of the window'.
"I haven't looked at myself because I'm looking at her all the time," she told Hello! magazine. "My breasts are huge but for a purpose. And apparently, I'll have a tummy for a while, which is OK too. I'm sure I shall want my body back, but right now it seems really unimportant."
Miss Halliwell joins a growing band of celebrity mothers who regain their figures within weeks of giving birth.
Penny Lancaster and Victoria Beckham were criticised for losing weight too quickly, the former in just nine days.
But Professor James Walker, of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecology, said there was no reason why Miss Halliwell shouldn't be keeping fit.
"If she exercised during pregnancy, there's no reason why she can't be doing gentle jogging now," he said.
"Although physical healing after a C-section takes about six weeks, jogging puts pressure on the legs rather than the pelvis."
Miss Halliwell, who has a history of eating disorders, split from her daughter's father, writer Sacha Gervasi, early in her pregnancy.

She doesn't look that thin, leave her alone. I think alot of pictures we see have been manipulated anyway because my magazine this week has photos of her on the beach holding her daughter and she's got a belly and looks healthy. Who knows what we're seeing.
I like her quote about not looking at herself because shes looking at her baby. Thats nice. I'm sure she'll be a great mother. I have a great amount of respect for her since reading her book.

If you don't gain a lot of weight during the pregnancy, it doesn't take that long to lose it after giving birth, especially if you exercise regularly.
I think she looks fine.

I don't know if she did it in purpose or not, but she along with Brook Shields looked slim a week after their c-section! Maybe they had nip-and-tuck procedure right after the delivery.

And if she was looking pudgy, I'm sure people would rag on her for being a porker.
She looks great I think. Besides, my own mother who's not a celeb lost all her baby weight plus some extra in less than two months. It's entirely possible if you watch what you eat and exercise.

That's true. Within 6 weeks of having mine, I had lost 27 pounds. It can be done - although, part of the issue here, is the fact that the C-section limits physical activity for about 6 weeks so I would have imagined that it would be more difficult for those mother's to accomplish the weight loss as quickly.

My mother had a C-Section, and she was hitting the beach within two days (with the doctor's warning not to swin too energetically) and the gym within 20 (she just avoided abdominal work initially).
The key word being 'limits'.

swimming at the beach 2 days after birth - with the inicision could that not lead to infection?? Doesn't sound very safe to me, but whatever floats your boat, I guess.
