Duff Slams ‘New York Times’ Critic

HOLLYWOOD - Hilary Duff has issued a stinging response to the New York Times movie critic who described her acting as "talent-challenged."

Stephen Holden has consistently slammed Duff's teen comedy movies and singled out her performances particularly.

But Duff insists she isn't making movies for New York Times readers.

She tells Elle magazine, "He doesn't really fit the demographic. So I could really care less. Look at me, and look at where he is--sorry! Would he prefer that I take some super-adult role that is inappropriate so I would have no place to grow?

"Suppose the next thing I did was this super-edgy independent movie where I was pregnant or shooting up. What would that do to my fan base?"

I understand what she is saying but she didn't have to drop that "look where he is and where I am" line. I always knew she had a little bitch in her.

And exactly where does she think she is? I was thinking of defending her, but she just made a huge mistake. "The pen is mightier then the sword." She will learn real quickly that the above statement rings true.

Yeah but she could have made her point gracefully. She sounded like a spoiled brat. Granted alot of the times with these kinds of interviews, things get taken out of context more often than not. However, I think she did say it.

no, i totally agree, bella! hilary duff, for all intents and purposes, is just a very rich, very young girl. she really defended herself well i think. so what that while defending herself she implied that she's richer than he is. IT'S TRUE. it's not like an oppinion, like the critic's was. and she's so right. of course he's going to hate her movies - they're not made for him on purpose. she's a pretty good role model so far as i've seen. maybe a little too thin, but...

Just because you are richer then someone, does not make it right to state it. There is a certain bit of modesty some should show, when talking about themselves. Its a lack of class and humbleness. SO fucking what she makes more money then him.

WHo knows maybe the reporter owns a bank and does this as a sideline.
