Manage Alerts | What Is This? SWAKOPMUND, Namibia (AP) -- Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt on Wednesday thanked Namibia for the privacy and peace they enjoyed for the birth of their daughter.
"We have been able to have a very special, peaceful time for our family here, exploring your country and, more importantly, helping with the delivery of our daughter, Shiloh," Pitt told a news conference for local journalists at the Hansa hotel in the coastal town of Swakopmund. "So for that we are eternally grateful."
It was the movie star couple's first public appearance since Shiloh Nouvel Jolie-Pitt was born May 27 at a private clinic in Walvis Bay.
Delivered by Caesarean section, the baby weighed 7 pounds (3.15 kilograms) and was said to be in good health.
She was not present at the news conference.
Pitt and Jolie retreated to the southwest African country for government-assisted privacy in the weeks leading up to the birth.
Jolie, relaxed and smiling in a long black dress, said the couple had sought a place where they could spend some special time with her two adopted children, 16-month-old Zahara, from Ethiopia, and 4-year-old Maddox, from Cambodia.
"We both had traveled to Africa and loved this part of the world," said Jolie, 30.
The couple plans to leave in the next few days, they said, without specifying a date.
Both Jolie's adopted children had their surnames legally changed to Jolie-Pitt after Pitt announced his intentions to adopt the children as well.
Pitt, 42, and Jennifer Aniston divorced last year.

New Video: Pitt-Jolie Parents Meet the Press
New mom and dad thank Namibia for peace and privacy
By TMZ.COM STAFF
(June 7, 12:40PM ET) -- Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie made their first public appearance since the birth of their daughter, Shiloh Nouvel, at a press conference Wednesday.
The couple thanked the government of Namibia for protecting their privacy during the birth of their first child together. "We have been able to have a very special, peaceful time for our family here, exploring your country and more importantly helping with the delivery of our daughter Shiloh," Pitt said to a room filled with local journalists. "So for that we are eternally grateful."
Jolie gave birth to the baby girl by Caesarean section at a private clinic in Walvis Bay. The baby weighed 7 pounds and was said to be in good health.
Hollywood's golden couple say they plan to leave the small African nation in the coming days, but did not say when or where they intended to go. Jolie, looking radiant and relaxed in a long black dress, said the couple wanted to find a place where they could spend some quality time with their adopted children, 16-month-old Zahara and 4-year-old Maddox.

They say they are committed to their kids, but they don't seem to be committed to each other. They also denied getting married, I guess they will just be platonic co-parents. Like I said earlier, I do not feel the love in these two.
So sad that they had to go through all this and then look so sullen all the time. And since I hate PIttface so much, I might as well say it here.....

I must admit that I agree with all of this. Every newborn parent looks ehausted, because they are (assuming they actually care for their kid) but he's looked haggard for ages.
And WTF? AJ sounds like Madge. When did she develop a British accent?

wow they looked really happy. Sounds like you are hoping for the worst - sorry but looks like it wont happen.
Brad's last 2 partners were conservative and boring so Angie is somthing a bit spicier for him, i think he is enjoying the ride.

Come on, you think Brad and Angelina are going to be drooling all over each other in public so they can be critisized more? They're going to keep it to themselves. I think they do love each other and if they plan to marry, they sure as hell aren't going to say it...especially not at a press conference! They've both had high profile romances before (Pitt with Aniston and Jolie with Thornton), so I'm sure they're keeping this one low-key. Why on God's good earth would they 'admit' to any marriage plans? So they can be pursued relentlessly the way the press chased them until Shiloh was born? I'd say nope, it ain't happening either.
My prediction: They'll marry within the year...and I agree with Powerorchid above--Brad finally found a woman who has a career but still wants a family (unlike Paltrow and Aniston who were totally into their careers when he was with them). It was no one's fault, he just found someone who wants the same things he does at this time.

^^ I don't expect them to profess undying love for one another. I mean, come on, they only have a family together. It's not like they made a blood pact or something really weird, right?

Everyone got what they wanted within the same week - a baby. Brad and Angelina got Shiloh, Jennifer Aniston got her 'hit movie.' No judgement here, it's choices people are free to make. How things end up working out or not, that's their choice too.

I don't dislike Aniston, but I can definitley see how Brad moved on if there were problems in the marriage and to top it off she wasn't willing to have a child. True, not every one has to have a baby and it doesn't mean she's less of a person, but if you're married to a person who WANTS a kid, that's a BIG issue. I remember that interview Brad gave 2 yrs ago with Diane Sawyer and Diane asked him what plans he had in the works....he said he was definitely thinking of 'family' and that little girls just broke his heart. He got all choked up and his eyes watered...you could tell he wanted a child badly. It would take an utter fool to not see it was VERY important to him.
The guy deserved a child if he wanted one and Jennifer Aniston deserved to have her career if that's what she wanted. It's too bad they just couldn't do it together.

Are you fucking kidding me?!?!?!?! A PRESS CONFERENCE?!?!?!?!?!? As I mentioned in another thread, it's a good thing they value their "privacy" so highly, otherwise they would probably have taken over the world already and forced us all to watch their movies over and over again a la clockwork orange.

Maybe a press conference was an attempt to stem further inquiries? That is, give the press something so they won't hound you for it--which they would, obviously since there's been so much interest in Brangelina and baby. I can see their reps recommending this.
On the topic of them marrying, somehow I'm not feeling it will happen. Angelina seems unenthusiastic about it. Brad seems more traditional. And that is never good.
