Kate Beckinsale's 9-hour hair-do for MTV event

The 32-year-old spent an astonishing nine hours at a leading salon so her mane of thick brown hair looked perfect for the MTV event in Los Angeles. She arrived at 11am, wearing no make-up and looking somewhat dishevelled, and did not leave until after 8pm.
Miss Beckinsale, star of Pearl Harbor, broke up her marathon beauty session by occasionally popping out to smoke a cigarette and reading a magazine. The results were on show the following day when - with makeup applied and wearing a black trouser outfit with wide white belt and white sling-backs - she looked stunning for the cameras.
The actress presented an award and appeared alongside celebrities including Jim Carrey, Christina Aguilera and Justin Timberlake.
She moved to Hollywood for her career but has revealed plans to move back to London to give her seven-year-old daughter Lily an English education.

I wonder what she looked like before she went in...
I'd say 9 hours was hair extensions, highlights and perfect straightening.
She looked gorgeous, but the outfit was bad.

the dye job and highlighting alone takes a couple of hours. add in extensions, washing, blow drying, flat ironing, makeup application, smoke and magazine breaks, i can see how it would be a long time. not quite 9 hours, but definitely a long time.

I watched Underworld Evolution last night. Obviously it's not an award winning movie  but I did like it. I think she looked awesome in it...

Ditto. I expected to see some kind of elaborate and elegant braided style for 9 hours. She got gypped! Give me 20 minutes, a blow dryer, and a $1.99 can of Rave hairspray and that looks like my hair.
