Reeves: ‘I started therapy’
According to Digital Spy, Keanu Reeves has made the surprise confession that he sees a psychotherapist.

The actor spoke to reporters at the Cannes Film Festival to launch sci-fi animation A Scanner Darkly. Work on the film finished 18 months ago and he was asked what he had been doing in the last year.


“I started some therapy. I was doing some personal work,” he responded, after some thought, before discussing his new therapist's techniques. “This guy kind of changes his deal.

“If we’re talking about youth stuff, he tends to be Freudian, it seems. And then, as we kind of go into more newer stories, it seems like a Jungian kind of thing.”
“Why now?” enquired a journalist. “Why not now? It had to happen some time,” Reeves answered. “I guess it was just time. I had that classic moment of turning 40 and all of that kind of stuff.
”And working a lot. And it was just time to stand still for a second. But now I'm ready to go work.”

Didn't he lose his sister and his girlfriend and had a stillborn baby all within a year or so? I must go visit my good friend google and sort this out.

***edit: here's what happened. His girlfriend delivered a stillborn baby a few weeks before its due date, then a year later the girlfriend was killed in a car crash. A few years after that, his sister died after battling luekemia for a number of years. Yeah, I can see needing a bit of therapy to sort your head out after that hat trick.

His sister - Kim - is still alive and lives in Italy. I think his former girlfriend, Amanda de Cadenet, becoming pregnant from that guy from the Strokes sent him to therapy. She hung on to him as long as she could and he would never marry her.

Good for him. I'm all for people trying to better themselves and not make excuses or blame other people for their problems. Keanu does have a sister that died. He didn't want to get married until his sister was better or unfortunately no longer here. All the best to him. You are never to old to fix a problem in your life.

When did she die? In his Playboy interview in April - she was still alive and I guess in remission.
