Former "Saved By The Bell" star Lark Voorhies has sued the National Enquirer for reporting she was addicted to cocaine.
Voorhies, who played Lisa Turtle on the hit Saturday morning sitcom from 1989 to 1993, filed a lawsuit Tuesday in Los Angeles Superior Court against the tabloid alleging libel.
The 31-year-old actress is seeking unspecified damages as a result of a 2005 article in which a "friend" revealed Voorhies has a "terrible drug problem" and is "bipolar."
The Enquirer claimed Voorhies was admitted to Las Encinas Hospital in Pasadena after her friends and family staged an intervention. Voorhies claims the allegations are false and that the story cost her acting jobs and caused her "humiliation, embarrassment, hurt feelings, mental anguish, and suffering."
Her doctor, Howard Askins, reportedly wrote a letter a month after the article was published stating Voorhies did not have a cocaine addiction and was not admitted to hospital for substance abuse.
Since "Saved By The Bell" ended, Voorhies has appeared on "The Bold and the Beautiful," "Days of Our Lives" and had several small TV and film roles.

Well, according to IMDB she hasn't worked since 2002 so I am quite curious what acting she has lost out on.
I understand milking publicity but please, at least come up with a more plausible reason as to why you are getting litigious on the National Enq.

Well, she may not have had a cocaine addiction but I remember a rumour that she was addicted to meth? I think there was a blind item like that a while ago.

Yeah, that girl's name is Jodie Sweetin. She was addicted to meth and even admitted it on tv. Don't remember where though.
