SHE'S famous for her fabulous figure - but after shedding two stone for a film role, Beyonce Knowles is desperate to get her Bootylicious curves back.
The 24-year-old singer admits to starving herself for months to drop from her normal size 12 to a scrawny size 8 for her latest movie Dreamgirls.
She gave up her favourite foods and even had periods of fasting to play Deena Jones in the film about a 60s soul band, which is loosely based on the story of Diana Ross And The Supremes.
But now Beyonce is keen to get back the body that caught the eye of her fiance, hip-hop giant Jay-Z, and earned her the nickname "Bouncy".
"It was so difficult, I was starving for six months but I made it through," she revealed at Cannes, where she and co-star Jamie Foxx attended the Dreamgirls premiere. "I fasted. I literally fasted. I drank a drink that gave me all the vitamins I needed and I didn't eat for 14 days and then I just drank protein shakes. It was hard, I felt weak, but I did it.
"Losing the weight for the film was my idea. I wanted to go all the way. I was inspired by what Tom Hanks did for Castaway. I said I'm gonna go on a fast, I'm not going to eat and I am going to drop this weight. And that's what I did.
"It worked because on screen you can really see my character transform from this baby-fat faced girl to a thin, sophisticated chic woman.
"It wasn't healthy, though. I don't look like me at all in the film, which was the point. But immediately the next day I ate fried chicken, fried fish, French fries - anything fried - and the weight started to come on really fast and easy."
Now that her gruelling starvation diet is over, the former Destiny's Child star - whose second solo album, B-Day, is out this autumn - has been enjoying living it up in Cannes.
We hear: "Beyonce's been staying on a private yacht moored just outside the port. She turned up to the film's premiere with a huge entourage - one of her flunkeys was given the sole task of following her down the red carpet with a fan to keep her cool. She loved every minute of it."
