Britney Spears Car Seat Mishap May Inspire California Law By Tina Sims
May 20, 2006 First California lawmakers were inspired by Tom Cruise, now they may be inspired by Britney Spears. Recall that Cruise inspired California lawmakers earlier this month, when legislation was introduced to ban the sale of
ultrasound machines to anyone but licensed medical professionals.

Now the Golden State may have 'Britney's law.'

WENN is reporting that California lawmakers are set to introduce a bill requiring parents to face their infants'
car seats towards the back of the vehicle if they are under one year old.
The story details:According to California motor-vehicle code, babies who weigh 20 pounds or who are less than one year old should have their car seats facing backward. Spears' representatives insist that she did nothing wrong, since her son weighs over 20 pounds.
Lawmakers hope the new legislation will clear up any confusion over the code by having any child under one year old facing backwards, regardless of weight. If passed, the new legislation would be called Britney's Law, in honor of the pop star.

It was a confusing situation as some officials were certain that she had broken the law while other were not.
Britney has said though her rep that she is positive she did not break the law but is still under heavy fire for having her infant in the bright
sun in a convertible while wheeling through Malibu.
