^^^Addictions are nasty and powerful shit. My whole family is riddled with alcoholism, which is why I do not drink. I agree it can be hard to feel empathy, but I wouldn't wish addictions or an addictive personality on anyone.

^^ I don't either. BF is addicted to nicotine and it's scary shit. But I'd rather get mad at him for it than pity him. There are ways to stop.

Usually a rather distorted one. They have 12 step programs for friends and family of those with addictions because they suffer from distorted, diseased thinking as well.

Typically they don't have 12 step programs for friends and family of those with NICOTINE addicions, which is what Barbara witnesses everyday.

I meant for people with addictions like Sam has-the one who gets no sympathy. My point was that witnessing an addiction really does not give you understanding. In fact, it probably makes you angry which will further your inability to offer an unbiased opinion.
