10-21-2005-Charlize Theron Worked A Shift in the Mines

The beautiful actress is preparing for yet another potential Oscar-winning role: that of the single mother Josey Aimes, in the drama “North Country”.
The story is inspired from real life, revolving around the main character's struggle to survive. She gets a job at a local mine in Minnesota.
While studying her part, Theron has actually worked a shift in the mines for 12 hours and met a few of the
women who work there.
“I think the most important thing that I got from them was when I got to be with their families and with their children", Charlize said during an interview with CBS.
"These were just people trying to make ends meet and trying to put food on the table. I think that was the part that moved me the most”, Theron added.
This is another “ugly” role for the beautiful actress. In “Monster”, where she played a serial killer, the actress gained 30 pounds and became almost unrecognizable under make-up.
“People said, 'Oh, you're doing another ugly movie”, Charlize recounts, “And I said, 'No, I'm doing another film about real people.”
