Pop star-turned-designer VICTORIA BECKHAM was close to tears at the Rock + Republic Fashion Show in Los Angeles on Wednesday night (19OCT05) when event organiser MICHAEL BALL had her escorted from the backstage area after a spat.

The former SPICE GIRL, who designed some of the denim fashions on display, was visibly shaken up when she posed for pictures with Rock + Republic boss Ball at the end of the show.

But Ball was all smiles, insisting things had become heated backstage and the disagreement was nothing more than "a little lover's spat".

He explained, "There was a lot of pressure to put this on."
