Default Robbie Williams Defends Cocaine Kate

British pop star Robbie Williams defended his compatriot Kate Moss over recent allegations that the model took cocaine, saying she "never hurt or harmed anyone" and that "what she does in private should remain private".

"She is an absolute icon. She does nothing wrong," Williams told a press conference after arriving in Berlin ahead of a concert on Sunday night to promote his new album "Intensive Care".

Williams, who has undergone rehabilitation for drug and alcohol abuse, accused people who denounced Moss for allegedly taking cocaine as hypocrites.

"People I took cocaine with now write that she should not take cocaine. Some want to disavow people's lives," he said.

"The media has a lot to answer for, she never hurt or harmed anyone, she never pretended to be anybody else. What she does in private should remain private."

Williams, whose new single is called "Tripping", said he sympathized with Moss having to go into rehabilitation: "I have been there and it is not fun."

A storm broke over Moss last month when a British newspaper published grainy photographs reportedly showing her taking drugs, prompting several high-profile fashion houses to cancel contracts with her.

The 31-year-old model has since checked into a drugs rehabilitation clinic in Arizona.

Williams said his eighth album took two years to write and the title was a play on words because of the effort he put into it.

"It (is called) Intensive Care, because it took two years to write and record it, I have been taken great care, it is a play on words."

He said the album was nostalgic, celebrating "the 80s and early 90s because of the memories associated with them".

Williams added that he was not worried about his failure to make a breakthrough in the United States despite his great success in Europe.

"I have had no success in the US because I spent two months there to promote seven albums. You cannot break into the US in that time, but Robbie Williams has not been bothered," he said.

"It is not important and it has never been."

Privacy is privacy, fair enough, but in my opinion for once it was good to unveil the truth behind all these skinny models that young girls look up to as role models.

Oh I'm sorry, I guess he missed the part where she had a 2 year old child and when one has a 2 year old child THEY NEED TO GROW THE FUCK UP and not have them in a toxic environment.

What a fucking douchebag. SHUT UP AND PUT YOUR GOOGLY EYES BACK IN YOUR HEAD, you one hit wonder.

^^^from article above^^^

Yet fashion models are not role models, were never claimed to be role models, and in fact are not seen as role models. Critics have greatly exaggerated the influence that fashion models have over the public, and over young women in particular.

Okay, yeah, the article shows that models are not really 'role models'. But wouldn't you say she's a role model to her little girl, if not the rest of the world? I think she really needed this wake-up call, since she has a child. That outweighs any of her other worldly ambitions.

Okay the article makes sense, but I still believe that the whole apology and "full responsability" story was just a sham and an attempt to save her career, I don't believe she truly meant what she said.
So in my opinion she's still NO ROLE MODEL in this sense either.

He is completely wrong. Kate Moss did hurt someone. Her own child. To me that is the worst person you can hurt.

the article doesnt defend kate at all. it simply states, the reason why kate's case was so big was due to PR issues.

kate isnt really a role model to much people, unless your 1 of those type of people that appear in MTV's "I want a Famous FAce"...

cmon, we already knew that she was a druggie (and about every other skele-model), it wasn't surprising to me at all. and yet the whole wide world claims to be shell-shocked !

i agree that she is harming her child, and i do *hope* very much that the little girl grows up straight and healthily. children are much more stronger than most people think.

i believe that its time to let it go and discuss about other drug gossip,

I think Kate's little girl may have a chance...look at Francis Bean. She seems okay...but she's not fully grown yet, so we'll see.

As long as they appear in girl's magazines, shown in a way that makes them look beautiful and desired, they WILL be a role model to young women. As long as extreme thinness is glorified and shown to be "sexy" girls that are growing up will want to feel the same way these models look. Everyone wants to look and feel beautiful, and whatever the standard of beauty is, they will try to conform to that.
