The people behind the upcoming big-screen adaptation of the Japanese manga series "Sailor Moon" have sent her some materials to look at, she said, and fans have begun lobbying hard for Lohan to play the titular character, a rail-thin blonde known for her strong powers and sexy costumes.

"I read that [online] the other day," Lohan said of her supposed "Sailor" casting. "I haven't read the script; I don't even know if there is a script. ... I read a lot of things [online] that I don't know about myself that apparently people think are true."

No! I used to watch the Sailor Moon cartoons with my daughter when she was younger. I made her a scout costume and she used to wear it everywhere. I dont want Lindsay to be Sailor Moon!

I loved Sailor Moon ... my daughter used to watch it when she was younger. I can't really see it as a movie with actual people though. They should stick with animation.

I think the spoiler is a very unfortunate stereotype of Japanese society. I'm sure there are people who will be doing this, but that's largely a subculture, not a societal norm. There are American counterpoints that I could point to that, taken as a representation of Americans, would make American men seem pretty pervy .

I read on Snopes.com that Japanese men get hot for women who are small and look like schoolgirls. That Japanese women try to stay girlishly tiny to attract men. That Japanese men can purchase used panties of schoolgirls from certain stores. That Japanese schoolgirls sell their panties for extra money.

Again, thats a subculture. It also says there was a public outcry against the vending machine, but there were legal problems obstructing the removal of the machines. I'm sure a lot more men in America would be open about their fetishes for little girls if there wasn't already so many legal obstacles to them. This sort of matter in Japan stands out for many Americans, so of course they're going to think that most Japanese men lust after schoolgirls.

I will tell ya as a Japanese girl myself, most normal Japanese men don't lust after schoolgirls or anime porn. It's dirty old (or young for that matter) or pervy men who might be into that sorta thing and they could be of any nationality or ethnicity.
I gotta agree with Dragonlady, she actually explained it much more articulately.

Maybe Japanese men are seen as liking small and younger looking women because Japanese women are actually shorter and tend to look younger?? I'm 5'0 and I look 10 yrs younger

Thanks The Japanese friends that I've talked to all pretty much say the same thing, but I didn't want it to sound like I was saying that a few Japanese people speak for everyone, so I didn't mention it before. I also would like to point out, as an example of American men ogling young chicks, that one of my friend's dad was making some very lewd comments about Britney Spears in her "hit me one more time" video (guess what she's wearing? a schoolgirl uniform). This was until his 15 year old daughter heard him and called him out about how creepy it was.

That's good to hear, moomies. Although, even here in America, men prefer young women. Some may not admit it, but I'd guess that MOST men find the likes of Lindsay Lohan very attractive. The only difference between here and Japan is that American men like 18 year olds who come across as experienced sexually, while in Japan men like 18 year olds who giggle and pout and act like girls.

As far as Japanese women being smaller, aren't they careful with their food? I have seen some Asian women who are quite full and round if they eat like Americans. So I don't know if they are "naturally" slender, isn't it more of a cultural pressure to stay small?

I don't think it should be generalized that what men prefer who. If you are determined to stereotype you'll find all sorts of reasons. I don't get this negativity.
What you might hear and see in the media doesn't represent a culture IMHO.
As for the cultural pressure to stay thin, isn't it the same in the West? Large women are looked down upon in N. America, for example.
I don't know if being slender is natural, it might be more to do with traditional Japanese cuisine consisting primarily of fish and vegetables in small portions but that is changing because Japanese diet is becoming Westernized. All I can say is that for a lot of Japanese ladies, they are naturally short but again the average height is also changing as our diet change.
There are women of all sizes across the globe, if you ever travel to Japan, hope you'll see and understand the diversity.
