Vince Vaughn wants no babies"
Vince: Jen's 'Great,' But No Baby Plans
With three weeks to go before "The Break-Up" hits theaters, Vince Vaughn is still perfecting his deflection technique when it comes to talking about on-screen and offscreen love Jennifer Aniston. After getting in some practice last week with David Letterman ("I'm not saying we are or aren't a couple. I think she's great"), the laid-back funnyman braved face-time with friend-of-Jen Oprah Winfrey on Wednesday.
"Jennifer's great. She's one of my favorite people," Vince nonspecifically told the Big O (she was quick to concur). "She's just really smart and funny and easy to be with -- very considerate. She's great."
The actor, who is carrying more baggage under his eyes these days than Mariah Carey on an around-the-world tour, also got plenty of mileage out of the rumor that Oprah was going to throw an $8 million wedding for the low-profile pair, a claim that the media mogul and the hit-needing actress took pains to shoot down last month.
Vaughn says he has no immediate plans to get hitched, but commended Oprah for the "very nice gesture" and zinged, "I'm expecting a pretty good band for $8 million."
As for becoming a tabloid target since hooking up with the former Mrs. Brad Pitt last summer (the latest rumor has them plunking down $12 million for a mansion in Vince's native Chicago), he scoffed, "It was like gossip in high school ... I've never paid much attention to it."
And because no Hollywood relationship seems to be complete these days without the pitter-patter of little feet, Oprah quizzed Vaughn on whether he and Jen have considered joining the not-so-exclusive dirty diaper brigade, which will soon get a new member with the imminent arrival of baby Brangelina.
"No, I have not talked about having kids with Jennifer," he revealed. "I think [having children] takes a lot of focus, takes a lot of attention. I think it would be nice at some point to have a different priority in something else ... I think that time would come. But not any time in the near future for me, I don't think."
Not that he's completely ruling out saying "earmuffs" to his own ankle-biters: "At some point I would. I've always liked kids a lot -- but no plans for the future. First we have to have the $8 million wedding."
By the by, while Vince was in the hot seat, Aniston was back in Los Angeles, where she went casual -- very little makeup, basic black togs -- as she joined Courteney Cox Arquette at an AFI Associates luncheon paying tribute to her BFF's in-laws, the Arquettes.
