Default Geri Halliwell gives birth to baby girl

Quote:
GERI Halliwell gave birth to a baby girl last night — after refusing to allow the tot’s dad to be present.

Ex-Spice Girl Geri, 33, checked into a suite at London’s Portland Hospital early yesterday to prepare for a Caesarean section.

Her mum Anna Maria was with her at the birth — which was not due until later this month.

The baby was delivered at 9pm by top obstetrician Malcolm Gillard, who delivered David and Victoria Beckham’s first son Brooklyn.

Mr Gillard was also flown to Spain to oversee the birth of Posh’s third son Cruz and was recommended to Geri.

A hospital source said last night: “The birth went well. Mother and daughter are doing fine.”

The baby’s dad Sacha Gervasi, a 40-year-old Hollywood screenwriter, had been frozen out.

Cleaner’s daughter Geri was introduced to British public school-educated Gervasi 18 months ago by pop pal Robbie Williams.

She got pregnant during a six-week fling last year.

But the couple split after a finger-jabbing row which left Geri in tears.

Bearded Gervasi — who has battled drink and drugs demons — is angry at being shut out of his baby’s life.

He is reported to have engaged the same high powered lawyers used by movie mogul Steve Bing in his paternity battle with Liz Hurley.

If Geri had the child in California, she and Gervasi would have shared equal parental rights.

But she has spent more time in the UK during her pregnancy and decided to have her baby in London.

Geri has never publicly acknowledged that Gervasi is the dad.

He said in a statement: “I fully intend to give Geri and the baby all the love and support they need.”

Why all the caesareans? I thought they were for emergencies, I really get annoyed with all these stars just booking themselves in for the birth like they'd make a hair appointment.

Would that Britney Spears had this kind of common sense.

Me too! My Mum had to have one with my brother because he was too week to fight his way out on his own, women who just book themselves in to give birth think that they're too posh to push! I know it sounds crazy putting yourself through so much pain when it could be avoided but wouldn't they like to have that feeling of pride knowing that they got the baby out the natural way instead of paying extra for a fast baby like they would a big mac??

I chose to have a csection for my last baby because I wanted to have my tubes tied and it worked out anyways because my son HAD to come out via csection because the sono of him looked like he might be in danger.

Talked to the doc and he said had I had a csection with any of the rest, I would have risked some really nasty things happening. They don't recommend that you have more than 2 babies by csection and they have to be pretty spread out. Your insides can busted open and fall out!

Lets hope that Posh doesn't get pregnant again soon. All three of hers were by c section.

And as in your case if a caesarean is required then I totally support it. But I was watching Meet the Barkers last night (there was nothing else on I promise! ) and thingy's wife was going in to have her ceasarean, it was like "right, Mama's off to give birth now...." packing her bag and tottering off. I thought giving birth was about sweat and tears damnit!!

I had both my children naturally. The labor is really the worst of it and the first labor seems to hurt more than following ones - maybe because you don't know what to expect. The actual birth itself doesn't hurt at all. Personally, I wouldn't want anyone slicing me open unless it was absolutely necessary. *shudder*

It's about fear and control. Lots of women are afraid of the pain of giving birth the "natural" way. Some husbands prefer the wife have a c-section because they are afraid that the vagina won't be the same afterwards - stupid because if you have a decent doctor, you'll be exactly the same if not "tighter". Does anyone remember the last "famous" person who had a baby vaginally? Necessary c-sections are completely understandable. Unnecessary one put the baby at a risk that it shouldn't be. The recovery time for the c-section is much longer than a vaginal birth too. Unless the c-section is absolutely necessary, I'm completely opposed to them - it's surgery, not a luxury.

I tell you what, I am glad that the last one was by csection. I am still not right. I really missed not pushing this baby out the way I did with the others. I didn't get the total rush I got either afterwards like I had with the other 3. Probably because I was scared out of my wits!

I don't get the opting for csection thing. Like I said, I was very frighten! It not a natural thing. Ugh. And I still don't feel the same. My bladder feels weird. My periods aren't right. It has been a year. Doc said give a little more time but I dunno. If Posh had 3 and I only had one, I bet she has pissed herself more than I have!

My Mum said the same thing. She said after giving birth to my brother she felt like shit, she said she couldn't get out of bed and she was a bit depressed. But with me she said she could have gone out dancing she felt really happy and well and went home the next day! But that could have just been the natural effect that I have on people

I did it the natural way, no drugs, no nothing. And I sure as hell didn't feel like dancing, or walking, or sitting afterwards....or for several weeks after. IT SUCKED. But I lived.....

Anyway, congrats to Geri. And good luck w/the impending custody battle.

Oh TRUST ME Tiara, that was NOT how I wanted it. I just 'progressed' too quickly and since it was during a major snow storm, there were no anthesiologists available, etc. So, it was not by design. And I am STILL pissed off about it (can you tell? haha). I would have KILLED for a c-section!
