Acid-tongued comedienne JOAN RIVERS questioned the paternity of KATIE HOLMES and TOM CRUISE's baby daughter SURI at an Australian awards show last weekend (07MAY06).
The American funnywoman was hosting the Logies - Australia's equivalent to the Emmys - at the Crown Casino in Melbourne, Australia last Sunday (07MAY06) and took the opportunity to mock the TOP GUN's star.
Rivers said, "Did you hear Tom Cruise just had a baby? He was there when it was born... He should have been there when it was conceived!"
Last October (05), Rivers accused Holmes of being untalented and claimed her engagement to Cruise was the best thing she had ever done.
Rivers said, "Each woman has done very well by him - NICOLE KIDMAN and PENELOPE CRUZ. So this one, Katie Holmes , who doesn't seem to have much talent, is probably the luckiest of all. I saw her in BATMAN BEGINS and, let's just say, she better hang on to Tom for a while!"

Katie was so dull in Batman. Not a lot of charisma there.

I'm not a Joan Rivers fan, but it does sound like she's hit the nail squarely on the head this time.

Who to side with -- Joan, the shrill bitter dingbat and future Madame
Tussaud exhibit, or Tom, the psychotically friendly Scientologist....

I love Joan, I end up in fits of laughter when I watch her. She doesn't have a care in the world who she insults.

I don't like Joan, but I do like that she isn't kissing Tom's ass.... dammit, I agree with Joan, the lesser of the two evils. Can't stand her daughter, though!

Despite the Aussie reputation for being laid back and broadminded, Joan's act went down like a bucket of cold sick I'm afraid. It was funny, but someone should have told her it was going out more or less live during 'family viewing' time instead of late night or cable. LOTS of complaints about the inappropriate content and several comments about how sober Joanie was (not very by all accounts). The Logies are based on voting by readers of popular TV goss mags, ie, mostly teens and moms, so it has to be a bit white bread.

If this comes to be a lawsuit (and when doesn't it when $cientology/Tom Cruise gets insulted), I'm cheering for Team Joan even though I find her grating. She's dead on about Katie's abilities in Batman Begins. Katie was flat and unbelievable.

Well, I didn't actually see Batman Begins, but I'd bet I would find her more believable in that than I find her as "Tom Cruise's Doting and Devoted Baby Mama"...

Love Joan. I love that she doesn't give a rip about what other celebs think of her.
On a side note, I'm horrified that Katie was paid good money to kiss Christian Bale and still acted so pitifully.

At least we still had Christian Bale to stare at and we didn't have to see Katie too often. I own the movie and totally forgot that she was even in it.
