From Drudgereport, via NY Post:
STERN EYES FREE RADIO
By JOHN MAINELLI
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
May 9, 2006 -- HOWARD Stern says he's been offered a "major deal" to come back to regular radio via satellite radio - just like his longtime enemies Opie & Anthony.
"The joke could be on them if I get good and worked up [because] I got offered a major deal to go back to terrestrial and stay on satellite at the same time," Stern told his Sirius listeners in comments replayed and mocked yesterday by "O&A."
"Can you imagine if I go across town against them in all those markets and just kick some a-? That would really be cool," said Stern, who now broadcasts to about a tenth of his former audience.
If an offer was actually made to Stern, it most likely came from Citadel Broadcasting, which is in the process of acquiring Disney/ABC's radio division - including New York's WABC, WPLJ and WEPN - and is headed by former Infinity/CBS exec Farid Suleman.
Once Suleman gets the keys to ABC's outlets, he could instantly return Stern to major FM stations in New York, L.A., Chicago and other huge cities, if Sirius, which is paying $500 million over five years for Stern's supposedly exclusive services, agrees to trade exclusivity for cash.
During a recent investor conference call, CEO Mel Karmazin said he's not entertaining reverse-licensing offers but added, "It doesn't mean that we couldn't in the future."
Neither Stern's agent or Suleman returned calls seeking comment.

He is such a sellout and he can never get his ugly mug out of the spotlight because he is so into himself. I wish he would go away. NO ONE CARES.

I do. And apparently so do lots of other people if his success is any indication. And how is he a sellout? If anything, he's one of the few people who refuses to keep selling out. Love how people who know next to nothing about his show (other than what they've heard from others who know next to nothing) seem to have his number.
You'll never see him on crap radio again, so the easily offended need not get their knickers in a twist. Been listening to his show for about a decade and it's better than ever. More talent in his pinky finger than anyone else in radio (satellite or terrestrial) and any TV host/interviewer for that matter.

Would that mean that Adam Corolla would be off? I enjoy listening to Adam and can't say the same for Howard.

If Adam goes, it'll be because his ratings suck worse than anyone else who's remained/signed on since Howard. Not because of Howard. Crap radio made a shitload of money off Howard, but would never acknowledge it, let him slip away, and now kicking themselves in the ass. There's not even any reason to listen to regular radio anymore for me. I was already doing satellite for the music.

Well, all in all - because of Howard I did find a nice alternative morning station that plays great music that I don't hear often. Personally I think he would find going back to regular radio to be too boring and limiting to him - but hey whatever... I can easily turn the station or sign up for satellite just to not hear him.

Stern's not a sell-out? Every time I see his young, blonde, plastic butterface of a girlfriend, I think otherwise.

Apparently so. And if he dates anyone, it's supposed to be someone unattractive, because a girl who looks like Beth couldn't possibly be more than a brainless bimbo!
Nevermind that she's a college graduate and was an athlete as well. There's no way Howard could be with someone for 6 years who he couldn't have an intelligent conversation with. I rememeber when he and the crew were talking about the *Newlyweds* TV show and even though up until that point he'd found Jessica about the hottest thing in the world, he said something like he'd probably jump off a cliff if he had to deal with what Nick did.

What's also cool is that he has never had a bad word to say about his ex. Quite the opposite, in fact.

just out of curiousity, have any of the Howard haters ever listened to his show? and not the stupid stuff, like the farts & naked girl stuff, but listen when he is talking about life, politics, etc.
the man is very intelligent, humbled & damn funny. i don't really see the sell out thing, unless you mean him being famous in general b/c you could pretty much say ANYone famous is a sellout.

O.K. I admit I don't listen to his show. I keep thinking there must be more to this man than his disgusting verbage. I guess there is, but I have to get past the smut, fart jokes, and his demeaning or help in demeaning women to hear it, and I can't waste my valuable time. I also find his show the liberal version of that big conservative windbag Rush Limbaugh. People say Rush is not really that mean off air, or full of hot air. I however don't want to listen to his hot air to hear a few nuggets of niceness, Stern either.

^^^That's exactly how I feel. Years ago, I was able to glean some intelligence & humor, but he became increasingly self-absorbed & gross. He turned me off completely with all that Fartman garbage (yes, many moons ago). He did that on some award show, where he was lowered to the floor wearing assless pants, and bulldozed over the show. It was so UNFUNNY. And I remember some band trying to receive their award, and he completely intruded into their moment & wouldn't go away, like some dumbass neighborhood tard kid.
Maybe it's unfair to hate on him all these years because of that, but so be it. Recently we had a thread where someone (Jenna Jameson?) was riding that sex mechanism thing on his show. Sorry, I think that's disgusting.
He could be the keeper of the truths of the universe for all I know, but if you gotta wade through miles of sewer to get to him, forget it.

Even Howard will admit that Fartman was stupid. Hence, the *embarrassing* scene in the movie Private Parts. But anyone who posts on this site would enjoy the fuck out of listening to him interview anyone famous. He is totally unintimidated and will ask questions that people really want to know. Not stupid kissass horseshit.

Ok, well if he can acknowledge the fiasco that fartman was, maybe I'm being too harsh. Like I said, I used to like him.
The sex thing, well, sex doesn't gross me out in general, but a group of people watching a female straddle a sexual device, while they talk about it on the radio, well, that's not "sex" to me. It's just nasty. I just find that a lot of sex talk is not interesting. It's too junior high or something.
