Paris Hilton and her boyfriend, Greek shipping heir Stavros Niarchos, have split, a source close to Hilton tells PEOPLE.

When asked about the split, Hilton's rep, Elliot Mintz, says, "It is not my policy to comment on my client’s private life. But I would not offer a denial."

Hilton, 25, and Niarchos, 21, began dating last year.

Last month Hilton threw Niarchos a surprise 21st birthday bash at her Hollywood Hills pad. Some 100 guests turned out for the party, during which "Stavros did back flips into the pool and jumped from one end to the other," said a guest. "Everyone gasped and begged him not to continue because his stunts looked dangerous."

The happy couple were inseparable that night, holding hands and kissing.

Niarchos was previously involved with Mary-Kate Olsen, whom he left for Hilton.

For her part, Hilton was previously engaged to Paris Latsis, also a Greek shipping heir.

Even single time I see this kids name I think "Starvin' Nachos" He made a lucky escape from her. Better to go back to the coked out anorexic in the funny clothing.

Hilton broke it off just before leaving for Austria on April 27 for a brief appearance at a music festival (for which she was paid $1 million). On May 1st, Hilton was back in L.A. where she met Arizona Cardinals’ first-round draft pic Matt Leinart for lunch, sparking rumors that the pair are dating.

But a source close to Hilton tells Us, “There’s an attraction but they haven’t hooked up.” The source also says that despite reports that Leinart and Hilton saw a movie on May 1, they only “ducked inside the theater to avoid photographers.”

I could so kill my guidance counselor now. I mean when I told her I wanted to be a professional slacker she told me there wasn't any money in it and encouraged me to get an education and a career. Now I keep reading about people who get paid to party (like Paris and Perezhilton).

I'm sure that Paris probably raked in another cool 5-10 million from Nacho's parents to leave him alone.

I loved the press release where her PR rep said that she wasn't going to discuss the demise of her relationship w/Nacho. But Paris tends to say she isn't going to talk and then does. She pulled the stunt w/Nicole, and she portrayed one of the Carter boys as an abuser (just from the photos, not vocally), and then recently it comes out that boyParis cheated on her.

I'm sure that in a few months we will hear whispers of Nacho either being a druggie or gay.
