Probably wants to disassociate himself from the stink of Cruise from MI3.
Academy Award-winner PHILIP SEYMOUR HOFFMAN is heading to Australia to direct a play written by CATE BLANCHETT's husband ANDREW UPTON. The CAPOTE star will set up home in Sydney during his collaboration with the Sydney Theatre Company next year (07). While the actor is holding back on details, he was recently spotted in the audience of Upton and Blanchett's joint production of HEDDA GABLER at the Brooklyn Academy of Music in New York City. Hoffman says, "We're in talks with Andrew Upton and that theatre company and hopefully it's going to happen. "Well, I'd rather not get into that as of now, just out of respect for them. I'd rather have them announce it."
