Orlando Bloom nearly gets a guy killed and apologizes with an autograph

THE LORD OF THE RINGS heart-throb was driving in London on Monday morning (17APR06) when he reportedly pulled out in front of swimming instructor SLAWOMIR SZYDLOWSKI, who was riding his motorcycle.

Swimming instructor Szydlowski, 28, says, "It's only good luck that I'm here to tell the tale. He can't have looked in his mirrors. I flew off and hit the ground hard, rolling three times. If there'd been a car coming the other way, I'd be dead."

When an ambulance arrived to whisk Szydlowski, who suffered deep cuts and internal bleeding, to hospital, Bloom jumped in the back and scribbled a note saying, 'Sorry mate!' and signed it.

Szydlowski adds, "We both had to give breath tests. He did ring to check I was all right."

He is lucky that it happened in London because if it happened here in the States he would have been sued penniless while the “victim” used his autograph as toilet paper.

erm no, he wrote the note after he jumped into the back of the ambulance with the guy, then called later to see if he was alright.

Wtf else was he supposed to do, drag him to the hospital on foot and then spend the night in bed with him, cuddling?

So far he's shown an appropriate amount of concern, and I wouldn't be surprised if he buys the guy a new bike or something.

Sounds fine to me. I got hit by a car and the guy drove away, after crushing my bike. I didn't get squat.

No.. but I did get the guys licence plate to his hideous puke brown, 1970's era Impala and had him charged with a multitude of things.

I think giving an autograph unless asked is pretentious and under these circumstances not very sensitive.

the autograph was attached to an apology note. I wouldn't care about the autograph, but the apology is nice

Never really cared for the guy, and this article makes him seem like a total prick. Like mentioned many times, what makes him think this poor guy even wanted an autograph?
The only autograph I would want would be on the check to cover my hospital bill and buy me a new bike.

So he had to run to his car and write out an apology note on his picture instead of every other normal person that would verbally apologize and exchange insurance information. OK.
