Thin Richie: 'I'm not on the verge of death'

Skinny Nicole Richie has hit back at critics who accuse her of being too thin.

The US star has sparked fears for her health after a dramatic weight loss - with former friend Paris Hilton branding her appearance "really sad". But Richie, 24, daughter of singer Lionel Richie, insists she doesn't have a problem.

Am I thin? Yes, no doubt about it. But to say I'm on the verge of death is just untrue," she said in a magazine interview.

"My family get really upset to see these people writing lies about their child. Do they ask me about it? No, because they know that I eat."
The star of reality show The Simple Life said her stick-thin figure was down to the pressures of her working life.
"I have days where I'm up at 4.30am and still filming at 11pm," she explained.
Richie still goes to the gym despite having no fat left to burn.
"I'll squeeze in a workout when I have time, but I don't do any cardio - I don't need to, I'm too thin," she said. "And I eat whatever I feel like, sandwiches, whatever."
Nose job
However, she is not entirely happy with her appearance.
"If I could change anything about myself it would be my nose - I hate it," said Richie, who admitted she has been in therapy since the age of three. "I see really good nose jobs in LA but it's a big decision."
Richie was formerly the best friend of her Simple Life co-star Paris Hilton but the pair have fallen out in spectacular style.
Hilton told an interviewer last week she was shocked by Richie's gaunt appearance.
"I can't believe it. That's not normal. She looks horrible. It's really sad," she said.
Of their friendship she said: "It breaks my heart. She was my sister. She was the funniest, coolest, best person to be around and then she, like, let the fame go to her head and then she thinks, I don't even know what. She's not the same person any more. I never want to speak to her again - ever."
The pair are set to appear in a new series of The Simple Life but are being filmed separately. • The full interview is in the May issue of Glamour magazine, out on Thursday.

I watched the simple lie, I mean simple life on E! Nicole Richie is a pig and she should be ashamed of herself, that show is not funny at all, they treat people like shit and they are disrespectful and ignorant, I can't believe they are making money off of it, Paris Hilton is just as bad, they disgust me. Especially the one where they are working at a Funeral Home, I hope that was staged because it sickened me.
