New Book Slams Dr. Phil: Has A Sham Overtaken Pop Psych?
In the book The Making of Dr. Phil: The Straight-Talking True Story of Everyone's Favorite Therapist, authors Sophia Dembling {a former reporter for The Dallas Morning News} and Lisa Gutierrez unearth some little known facts about the good doctor, most notably that he was married from 1970 to 1973 to Debbie Higgins McCall and then went on to marry his current wife Robin, in 1976.

Then of course, there's that 'let's shove this under the rug so nobody finds out' account of his affair with a 19 year old therapy client back in 1988, who said that the relationship between them was 'both sexual and codependent'. He was reprimanded by the Texas State Board of Examiners of Psychologists for the relationship and was then subsequently required to take ethics classes to continue his practice. Instead of completing the classes, he founded Courtroom Sciences - a consulting firm that provides advice to law firms in making psychological arguments.

The book also accuses Dr. Phil of unethical business practices and exploitation of guests on his television show, Dr. Phil - produced by Harpo Studios and owned by Oprah Winfrey - with a brand of 'pop psychology'.

That stupid Robin is in the audience for EVERY SINGLE show....and he will refer to her during moments (sometimes), in particular when he is talking about relationships! And she sits there and nods and smiles and walks off the stage w/him after the show.....WTF? I mean, FAKE FAKE FAKE!

AND she claims she has never had cosmetic surgery--HER FACE DOESN'T MOVE!!! I call Bullshit!!!

A few years ago, wasn't there a Sexual Harrassment suit slapped on him??

I read someplace that he used to give seminars with another woman, and somehow or other he stole all her ideas and took credit for them. Don't recall any more details, but he did cheat on his first wife. He's trash

Seriously though, always knew there was something up with his holier than thou attitude. I never knew there was a sexual harassment suit against him.

And Robin scares me, she's such a Stepford wife...

That fact is not quite "little known".. well maybe to some people, but this has been stated on his show a couple of times.

He doesn't make it a secret that he was once married before.

The authors appear to be announcing it as if it is, but it's never been a secret.

No I think what they were referencing was the fact that he cheated on Robin and was censored.

I guess she is sitting right up under his ass 24/7 to make sure that shit doesn't happen again!

Reminds me of Vitoria Beckham. She was all into doing her own thing and calling all the shots til David got caught fucking around and now she's conveniently decided to *focus on her family* including giving in and moving to Spain, getting knocked up again, and schlepping the kids to every game like a good football wife!
