Kiefer Sutherland has forgiven Julia Roberts but not Jason Patric

"24" star Kiefer Sutherland has forgiven ex-fiancee Julia Roberts for running off with Jason Patric in 1991. But Patric is still on agent Jack Bauer's watch list of romantic terrorists.

"I commend Julia for seeing how young and silly we were, even at the last minute, even as painful and as difficult as it was," says Sutherland, who was days away from marrying Roberts. "Thank God she saw it."

Does he still hold a grudge against Patric, who whisked her off to Ireland?

"It's not a matter of that," says Sutherland. "We were friends, and I'm surprised that I never got a call from him saying I've fallen in love with da-da-da. Instead, I found out from a stranger."

But Patric didn't hurt him half as much as booze has.

"It's absolutely caused me the most grief," he tells Erik Hedegaard in the new Rolling Stone. "I've embarrassed my mother and my family and, most specifically, my daughter."

At least he's off coke — thanks, in small part, to his interest in the culinary arts.

"I did like the ceremony, the ritual of preparing cocaine as much as doing it," he tells Britain's Mail on Sunday. "I did it for a year, loved it and then stopped. I feel the same way about cooking now — it's an amazing time to focus on something else."

Indeed, what's better than thinking of Jason Patric as you're dicing those carrots?

Julia has quite the affect on men. She can be forgiven for anything - even leaving her groom days before the wedding to run off with his best friend. Why he's so pissed at Jason, I don't know. I don't think what he did was commendable by any means, but I also don't think Julia should be getting off scot free. Even now...this many years later...it's pretty obvious Kiefer still has a lot of growing up to do. Perhaps Julia simply had a premonition of what her life was going to be like and got the hell out.

Wow - 'other 3'? I really thought he was only married the once. Lot's of flings, of course, but one marriage. Perhaps he should start paying more attention to his choice of women than worrying about his male friends.

He doesn't sound that pissed. What he actually says is very mild and reasonable. It's the incessant editorializing of the author that plays it up like he's angry and bitter.

Wait a sec...what does she need to be forgiven for? The fact that she came to her senses BEFORE she married him? Or the fact that it was revealed that he was banging a stripper named RAVEN on the side while they were engaged?

I believe you can forgive much more in a love relationship than in a friendship. JMO

i really like kiefer and i can't stand julia (which has nothing to do with with this whole thing). maybe i am biased but to me running of with your fiance's friend is worse than screwing a stripper while you are engaged. anyhow i doubt julia ran off with jason without having had sex with him before. supposedly she ran off with jason to the honeymoon suite that was booked for her and kiefer. i am not saying it's okay kiefer cheated on her but i just think it is so much more screwed up what she did.
what about saying: "kiefer, you are an arsehole, i am not going to marry you"?!

But I thought she ran off because he got caught cheating, or SOMETHING. It was so long ago. It was all over the tabloids.... He did something first, though, I'm sure of it.

yeah, he had sex with the stripper before she left him (who knows maybe she was having sex with jason too and it didn't come out).
leaving someone because he cheats on you is perfectly understandable but the how is questionable imo
