Film beauty UMA THURMAN insists her European looks severely hurt her career options because Hollywood has been eager to cast her as a hardened ice queen.
The KILL BILL actress - who was able to showcase her softer appeal in relationship drama PRIME - is tired of being reduced to cliche parts.
She says, "You are so limited in this business by people's perceptions, and I know that a lot of people found me cold in the past. I'm not alone in that - there are other ice-blonde, blue-eyed Nordic-looking actresses - but these cliches chase you around and it does get a little boring. 'Oh boy, they want me to play the German wife of the Nazi officer again. Tell them no!'"

Paris Hilton as Mother Theresa sort of blows the whole typecasting theory.

She's not exactly burning up the screen or the box office these days. Who knows, we may be seeing her playing the German wife of a Nazi officer before long.

she's right. I love her more in roles where she can show her vulnerability, as with most actresses. and she is burning up the screen Prime is a top rental and seller for the past long while. why so bitter about the Gary thing?

Are you talking to me? What makes you think I'm "Bitter about the Gary thing"?? I don't see anything in my comment that links Gary to the subject, do you? Why would I be "bitter" in the first place? I don't know either of them personally and never will. Give me a break, please.

it's just in every Uma post you say something negative about her. and I can't help but think it is linked to Gary Oldman. which is fine, but don't pretend it's not about GO.

Excuse me? I haven't posted in an "Uma post" since the one and only one I posted in a while back. I don't post very often in ANY posts, but when I do I am just stating my thoughts just like everybody else does.
And you're a mind reader, are you? You know what I'm REALLY thinking when I post something. Good for you! That must be a real burden though. I have enough trouble keeping up with my own thoughts. I'd hate to try and decipher someone elses. Have fun though, if that's what you like to do. Just don't single me out if I have an opinion about Uma that you don't like just because I happen to be a fan of Gary Oldman, OK? Thanks.

Oh good lord!! I love them both, they are both beautiful and enchanting - but frankly Uma hasn't exactly pulled in big crowds at the theater. It's just a fact.

Uma rocks, she's Black Mamba. I'd say she pulled in a few $$$$$ at the box office for Kill Bill 1 & 2.
Prime on the other hand was a yawner.

I just saw "be cool" tonight - not the type of movie that will be remembered but I loved it - Still the actors should stop whining about this type casting issue, they got known because they were once typecasted in a movie that worked - it's someone else's turn now

I watched Prime yesterday and what started out to have promise, soon fizzled. But Uma was luminescent in it! And whoever that guy was, well he was cute as a button !

^ Agreed.
I loved it when the guy is playing the video game Uma gets him for birthday. The look on his face is priceless.
