Tom Cruise's rapid German trip

Hollywood heart-throb TOM CRUISE made a mad dash to Germany to promote MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE 3 on Saturday (01APR06), before rushing back to the US in time for his pregnant fiancee KATIE HOLMES' impending labour.

The BATMAN BEGINS beauty is currently preparing herself for an allegedly silent birth at the couple's Beverly Hills, California, mansion.

Since she began dating Cruise exactly a year ago (APR05), Holmes has converted to his religion Scientology, which advises women to remain as quiet as possible during labour.

The baby will be Holmes' first child and Cruise's third - he has two adopted children CONNOR and ISABELLA, from his 10-year marriage to NICOLE KIDMAN.

Speaking on German chat show WETTENDASS over the weekend, Cruise admitted he had arrived straight in the studios from the airport and was worried he would have to return to LA straight away.

He enthused, "Katie could be having our baby at any minute."

Cruise admitted the couple had chosen a name for the new arrival, but refused to tell the German audience.
