PRISCILLA PRESLEY blames divided loyalties on the breakdown of her marriage to rock 'n' roll king ELVIS PRESLEY, revealing the birth of their daughter made it "too difficult" to support him fully.
The 60-year-old actress admits she was consumed by her husband's fame and hectic lifestyle, and after LISA MARIE was born in 1968 she found it increasingly difficult to balance being his wife with motherhood.
She says, "He (Elvis) was always the first, he was the first of everything he did. I lost my identity to an extent. Anyone can get lost in that world. When Lisa Marie came I felt like I was serving two masters. I stopped travelling with him but it was still very difficult. He was very demanding.

Maybe I'd feel bad for her if she hadn't hacked into her face so much. Is that terrible to admit? Plus, Lisa Marie just seems like a bit of a wack job to me so I really have a hard time finding sympathy for any of them.

I thought the problem was that he wouldn't have sex with her anymore after she became a mother.

Elvis was so handsome, so famous, had so much charisma and had so many women after him, that that marriage was doomed from the start. He told her what to wear, how to put on her makeup, how to act--he totally called the shots in that relationship. Priscilla was only 14 yrs-old when he met her and he was 24. I think Elvis traumatizd her. Ever since him, she's been trying to find her 'self'. She seems to think anything she does in life matters (like selling fricken bed linens! haha!) and guess what, Prissy--no matter what you do in life you will ALWAYS be known as Elvis' ex.
At least Lisa Marie has balls, has a little bit of character in her. She'd probably talk as much shit as the rest of us here. Priscilla seems so weak to me...pretty face, but so submissive. Elvis probably got bored...lol

Elvis liked them young and virginal. Giving birth would mean that she was neither in the sense that he wanted.
Interesting that both Priscilla and Lisa-Marie are Scientologists. Dumb and rich, just the way they like 'em.

It could have been very easy for her to not have been in the limelight after she divorced him. Right after the marriage she adamantly returned to her maiden name, trying to make a career as a fashion designer before taking up presenting and acting. The body wasn't cold yet or she returned to wearing his name, first hyphenated, later she dropped her maiden name altogether.
And for the past 15 or so years she has been rewriting history to the point of being ridiculous, as most recently showcased during the national landmark celebration of Graceland. She's a joke and she looks like the Joker from Batman, which is a shame because she once was one of the most beautiful women in the world. Too bad she wouldn't know the truth if it bit her on her inflated lips

Priscilla deserves to carry the Presley name. She earned her goddamn 'stripes'. She lived with him, lived amongst his family, married him, gave birth to his daughter, put up with his shit--I put myself in her shoes (as a woman) and there is no way....he was having his jolies on the road, cheating on her for years, but after she had a baby, he wouldn't even have sex with her? WTF!?! That was too much. How could any woman stay in that sort of situation?

^ I see she got to you, too
Nobody says Elvis was a saint and perfect husband and father. That is not the issue here. The issue is that she is re-writing history, ommitting facts and introducing myth - especially myth that is favorable to her. Anybody who knows and remembers anything from before her new version, knows she's using the Scientology brainwashing approach to change Elvis history to her liking.

I can't even say what is true and what isn't. I wasn't in that relationship they were, so she can pretty much say whatever she wants. I believe she did feel that way, Martin Gore from Depeche Mode wrote the song Personal Jesus after reading her autobiography.

Haven't you heard her latest "memories"? She told them during the many interviews for the landmark ceremony. She told the reporters that Graceland has been restored to the way it last was when Elvis lived there. That's untrue. It was redecorated twice since their divorce, one time by Elvis and Linda Thompson together. Priscilla restored it to its late sixties glory, the furniture and decorating from around the time Lisa was born.
She told reporters that they'd "always" sit around the family dinner table with all the family and friends, especially mentioning that she always sat next to Elvis. Fact is that Elvis was either away making movies or touring, so "always" is already a looooooong stretch from the truth. Furthermore Elvis most often consumed his meals either in his den or kitchen or bedroom during normal days. The formal dining room was indeed used mostly for formal nights, like Christmas.
She said that Elvis once walked in on Lisa Marie playing the Fifth of Beethoven on the piano and that she, Priscilla, witnessed this scene. Fact is that after the break-up, Priscilla barely spent any time at Graceland at all anymore. Lisa even travelled to her father alone by plane, accompanied by a bodyguard. Besides, Lisa lived at Graceland only up til age 4. After that, the last five years of Elvis' life, she only visited him during vacations. Most of that time, Elvis was a couple with Linda Thompson and Priscilla was a non entity at Graceland.

No one KNOWS if she's 're-writing' history. She lived it, none of us did. Like Ralphyclan above wrote, none us can say what is or isn't true. It was her life just as much as it was his. Her version of her life isn't wrong--it's what people want to believe. It's their perception of it.
If Priscilla changed her last name immediately after her divorce maybe she was angry and rightfully so. To be angry, hurt or dissolusioned after a divorce is pretty common. To have anger at your ex after all the crap he put you through is common too. Just because he was famous doesn't make him exempt--he was a regular man and he was not a good husband. Come on, she was only 14 yrs old when Elvis met her--he took over her life! He had no business with a girl that age and he scooped her up and molded her into what he wanted. And he did cheat on her--repeatedly. He was even giving her pills trying to make her into a mini-drug addict version of him. I'd be fricken angry too. That wasn't right, Elvis Presley or no Elvis Presley.
Who care what 'decorations' she's using at Graceland now.? The house has been blue and white and then red and white. Either way, it was blue and white the MAJORITY of the time he lived there. It was that decor during the good times. Just because she didn't choose the latter style (the red velvet style when he was fat, bloated and full of drugs), that makes her a liar? If people want it that accurate, they should also include a table full of the empty prescription pills he was taking at the time of his death and include that in the Graceland tour.
It's common sense that Priscilla would hardly visit Graceland after the divorce. Of course not--he had a girlfriend (or girlfriends). Plus, she had her own boyfriend too. You don't show up and barge in at the home that used to be yours and your former husband's (especially when you know he has a new flame). I think that's an irrelevant point. The fact is she lived there for 12 or 13 YEARS. She married him. She gave birth to his child. She put up with his womanizing. She put up with his shit. Just because she wasn't there 'at the end' makes no matter. I'm glad she and Lisa ended up the bosses--better than those baffoons Elvis called bodyguards who leeched off him all those years. For years he put all those losers before his wife and child and at the end all those worthless saps talk all this shit about Lisa/Priscilla because their free meal ticket ended after his death and they didn't give them anything. I'm glad the 'women' ended up in charge.
Is Priscilla a good actress? Hell no. Does she have talent? Double hell no. Do I think her Scientology religion is worth a damn? No way. But did the woman do her former husband right? Absolutely. She has helped his legacy grow. She built his estate because Elvis had dwindled it down to nothing. Why the hell she's selling bed linens now is hilarious. She's trying to be successful at 'something' when fact is, the only thing she's ever been successful at his preserving Elvis' memory and quite possibly because it's the ONLY thing since the age of 14 she really knows--ELVIS.
Priscilla's had numerous loves after him, but I think he will always be her first love and I can totally understand how she feels. She deserves to carry the name. And that daughter of theirs, Lisa Marie is so headstrong and so domineering because the father was like that too--the apple didn't fall far from the tree...and Prissy's been paying for it ever since...first Elvis and then the kid....haha!
