I think it's excellent that they got married. And I think it's kinda cool that they worry about things just like normal people!
Good for the family & friends to be there to offer congrats and support, more gays need that, not eggs and boos!
contactmusic.comSIR ELTON JOHN and DAVID FURNISH dashed from their wedding car when they 'married' in December (05), because they feared they would be attacked by homophobic protesters.
The pair were the most high profile gay couple to marry the first day same-sex civil partnerships became legal in Britain on 21 December.
And film-maker Furnish was convinced they would be singled out by those opposed to the change in law.
He says, "We were worried we'd be pelted with eggs or flour so we rushed into the building, but then we came out afterwards and our families were their, and our friends, and I felt, 'Wow, I can't believe this is happening.'"

I can't believe Elton found someone who can put up with his bullshit.
There's hope for me after all.
I am from the American CIA and I have a radio in my head. I am going to kill you.
I'm sorry, there is something just seriously sad & wrong with someone who will spend there time standing around holding eggs and sacks of flour, waiting for the precise moment to throw them on somebody. It kind of makes me laugh at the idiocy.
What'cha doin' man?
Oh, I'm just waiting on Elton John to come out, so I can throw eggs at him.
Oh, cool. See ya.
See ya.
Anyway, thank goodness all was well, and they proceeded sans cake ingredients.

Yip, yip, yip in your tiny indignation. Bark furiously on, lady dog.
Yeah, even if you look like a Bush-votin' Nascar devoteee in that photo...Originally Posted by Grimmlok

They had the SF Gay Mens Chorus, everybody had gorgeous flowers, and it was impossible not to get caught up in it. Tons of strangers stood there and applauded when the couples came down the long staircase after being married (along with their friends and families). I have never been in a building with so many handsome men in my life.
Even though I think Elton probably is a beast to get along with, I'm glad nobody spoiled their day.
