"SJP wants to change Hollywood stereotypes"
Sarah Jessica Parker wants Hollywood producers to start putting older women into romantic lead roles.
According to TeenHollywood.com, the 40-year-old actress thinks Hollywood producers ought to start considering older women for more rom-com lead roles. She also thinks that actresses ought to be more careful about who they surround themselves with.
She explained: "I read [a] script the other day and I said to my agent, 'I'm too old for this part now.' I knew it as soon as I read the description. But it was such a nice thing that I knew it, that I wasn't still trying to cling to something that never really applied to me anyway.
"It's so much better to know the truth and be surrounded by people who will say, 'You know what, you're probably right', than a bunch of people who will let you live in delusion. The truth is, you can't stop the clock."

She has a point, but I actually think there's been a bit of an upswing in the casting of "older" women lately. I can think of quite a few films in recent years that have featured female romantic leads played by "older" actresses - Diane Keaton in 'Something's Gotta Give', Susan Sarandon in 'Alfie', Diane Lane in several things, Sharon Stone (shudder), not to mention SJP herself, just off the top of my head. There was definitely a lull there for a while, but I think Hollywood's starting to wise up a bit.

So, another actress hits the brick wall that is 40 and starts moaning about 'no good roles for older women'. Doesn't she have a production company? If so, back films that feature older women.
