Outspoken pop star CYNDI LAUPER has slammed critics of her new song about self-pleasure, insisting society has double standards for male and female lyricists.

The GIRLS JUST WANNA HAVE FUN hitmaker is furious at the backlash she has received for SHE BOP, a song about masturbation, because men have been using the theme in their music for years.

She says, "Guys are always singing about it. I always felt like whatever guys can do, why can't I?

"If you don't want me doing it, don't do it yourself."
