Shakira honoured with statue

Colombian pop superstar SHAKIRA is set to be honored with a giant steel statue in her hometown of Barranquilla.

The mammoth construction is rumoured to be five metres high (16 feet) and is expected to arrive by boat tomorrow (19MAR06).

The LAUNDRY SERVICE star is thrilled by the tribute; following a viewing of the artwork during a fundraiser in Germany she said, "I want people to think that any girl can start working on her dreams and that they will come true."

German artist DIETER PATT donated the sculpture.

ourmanin, come on! Girl's history as a musician worlwide may be short, but she's done so much beforehand. Laundry Service was her 4th or 5th album. she's done a lot to promote her native country worldwide, so I see no point in dissing her like that...

Say what? This isnt Beyonce! She can belly dance! Regular dance though, probably not. Ballroom dance? Doubtful. And I severely doubt she can 'drop down and get her eagle on', 'shake it like a salt shaker' or 'drop it like its hot'.

I caught her video for that "she wolf" song and she looked like an idiot.....she should stick to belly dancing. I also saw her on a show (i think SNL) and she was moving around worse than Elaine on Seinfeld!
