The bag, which contains a host of items including a BlackBerry 8700c, a Kay Unger kimono and a Tahitian-pearl necklace, will be auctioned for the United Way Hurricane Response and Relief Recovery Fund from 21 March (06).
United Way spokeswoman SHEILA CONSAUL says the highest bidder will receive a handwritten thank you note from Clooney.

Very cool, indeed. You'd think more celebs would be a wee bit embarressed about the goody bag. Or else, in order to stand out, some pr person would put together a swag bag full of average, everyday items.

I never got why celebs received those ridiculously overpriced gift bags of shit they probably already have or can afford to buy on their own.

Jay Leno made a remark a couple weeks ago before the Oscars, regarding the Oscar goodie bags, with doggie spa treatments included, etc. He then made a comment on how all the victims still recovering from Hurricane Katrina are REALLY HAPPY to hear that the stars pets will get spa treatments, while the Katrina survivors are still looking for permanent homes. Perhaps George heard that monologue and decided to take action.
