Johnny Rotten: "Green Day are silly fat kids"

Ex Sex Pistols frontman Johnny Rotten has launched a fresh trade against Green Day.

The singer believes that Green Day wouldn’t have had a leg to stand on in the punk heyday and that they have since nicked punk’s ideas.

He blathered: “They’re sticky tape on a duck’s arse. They wouldn’t have survived it. We had to earn our wings.

“We made it easy for them to come in and nick things from us. Silly fat kids.

“It was hard times we went through for them to come and pinch our ideas.”

The Sex Pistols never did shit for me. I'm a Ramones girl at heart.

Personally, I love Green Day. They have the talent to back it up too. American Idiot is a great record and Billie Jo is an awesome songwriter.

For shame on BOTH of you! Johnny Rotten is the granddaddy of the punk movement, very honest and always a laugh. One of my fondest memories of my youth was seeing the Sex Pistols on their only US tour when they rolled through my college town. They were originals and Green Day are a pale whiny imitation!

I'm not mad on Greenday either and I'm not too familiar with the sex pistols, I appreciate that they were legends and all but when I saw Jonny on TV he was just so rude and ignorant towards everyone, he looked drugged off his face and didn't seem to ever have a clue what he was saying! At times I admit I warmed to him for some weird reason

but in the end he stormed out like a spoiled brat because he couldn't handle it.

can't stand johnny rotten but i am not to crazy about green day either. so johnny rotten is an idiot and green day are overrated. their concert i saw was like a big every detailed planed through children's birthday party.

That's cool, Gator! If I remember correctly, they self destructed on that tour. you're one of only a handful of people that got to see them.
I think Johnny is hilarious but the Pistols never did anything for me.

Johnny wrote a hysterically funny and rude book about those times, the political climate in the Uk that spawned punk rock and the frustration with the old guard as well as documenting what happened with the Sex Pistols. It's called "Rotten: No Dogs No Irish Allowed"
