Default Dennis Quaid suffered from 'manorexia'

March 10, 2006 -- EATING disorders aren't just for girls anymore. Dennis Quaid confesses in the new issue of Best Life that he battled "manorexia" in the mid-'90s. After losing 40 pounds to play Doc Holliday in "Wyatt Earp," Quaid says, "My arms were so skinny that I couldn't pull myself out of a pool. I'd look in the mirror and still see a 180-pound guy, even though I was 138 pounds." Quaid, now fit and elegant on the mag's cover, says, "for many years, I was obsessed about what I was eating, how many calories it had, and how much exercise I'd have to do."

He also had a major coke problem back then. That can't help your self-image! He always looked pretty hot to me though.

For some reason, I prefer his brother, Randy. Maybe it's the name...

Well for sheer entertainment value, you can't beat Randy Quaid's Cousin Eddie in the Vacation series. "Merry Christmas, shitter was full!"

I heard that Den Quiad was a major coke addict. It was Hollywood in the 80's. Meg Ryan practically supported him during the low points.

I wonder if Dennis and Meg were anorexics together ever.

Makes sense. They have done studies for years that demonstrate that anorexia and bulimia can be induced in both men and women by forced starvation. He dieted so much that his brain chemistry changed and just like Lionel's little girl he saw someone huge.

It does happen to men, although not nearly as frequently. Dancers, actors, etc. even some athletes are at a higher susceptability. Of course with the higher stigma attached with men fewer will admit the problem or seek help(also the nature of most men does not help either, if ya know what I mean) Kudos to him for speaking out(as long as it is just not a cover for being a drug addict).
