Talk about a close call! You had to be paying close attention to see it, but when Adam Levine — who is rumored to have had flings with Jessica Simpson, even while she was married to Nick Lachey — walked past Nick at the GM 10 event in Los Angeles on Feb. 28, Nick mouthed the words "Oh my God" to the friend sitting next to him. Adam walked right past Nick without noticing him in the front row of the fashion show that was about to begin. Adam rushed over to his front row seat which was only ten feet away from Nick's.
"As soon as Adam sat down, he felt Nick's eyes shooting daggers at him," said an onlooker seated close to the rivals. "When Adam looked up and saw Nick sitting right there, Adam got this scowl on his face and didn't even crack a smile for the rest of the night."
Nick pointed at Adam once during the fashion show and made a joke that made Nick's male friend sitting next to him laugh. Nick was clearly set on having a good time and not letting Adam's presence ruin it.
When Nick first arrived for the night, he rushed in past the long red carpet and politely declined interviews. As soon as Nick got inside, he found a beautiful female friend of his that he gave a long, ten second hug to. With her hands on his shoulders, she asked him: "How are you doing?"
"I'm doing alright. I'm alright. I'm gonna be alright," Nick chanted out loud almost like a mantra. He took a big deep breath and walked into the lavish Hollywood party.
First Nick walked to the bar and ordered a vodka mixed with cranberry and orange juice together. He quickly drank his first drink as girls came by to offer sympathy for Nick's divorce. Nick casually chatted with at least a dozen women and was extremely flirty.
Nick was seated in the front row at the very end of the runway for the fashion show. Every celebrity that walked the runway walked directly toward Nick.
Lindsay Lohan was the first celebrity to walk the runway and Nick blushed and smiled when Lindsay was walking. He glanced over to see if Adam Levine was smiling, and when he saw that Adam was very uncomfortable in his seat and could not make eye contact with Nick, that made Nick even happier and Nick started to laugh.
After the show ended, Adam Levine made a quick dash out of the party. He hung out by the men's room for about thirty minutes in order to avoid Nick and ended up ducking out a side door.
Back inside, single Nick was holding court. Nick was flanked by a throng of women for the rest of the night. Beautiful women were literally lining up to talk to him and give them their phone numbers. Some women made Nick take out his Treo cell phone and program their phone numbers into them. This started a trend and Nick programmed girl after girl into his cell phone for thirty minutes straight. It got so bad, that's Nick's male posse started throwing ice at Nick to tease him about being such a "player".
At 12:15 A.M., Nick had met almost every woman in the building and decided to call it a night. Nick and his bodyguard climbed into a black Cadillac Escalade and drove away from the party — without any of the female admirers.
