Jessica Simpson has dinner with Governor of New Mexico

Jessica Simpson, who is filming her new movie in New Mexico, was honored at a special dinner with the state's governor on Thursday night.

Gov. Bill Richardson and his wife Barbara hosted Simpson and her parents, Joe and Tina, at the New Mexico governor's mansion. (On the menu: chicken roulades, potatoes and vegetables.)

Simpson is currently shooting Employee of the Month in Santa Fe with costars Dane Cook, Dax Shepard and Efren Ramirez (a.k.a. "Pedro" from Napoleon Dynamite). As for Jessica's role in the comedy, "This time she's not a sex kitten," Joe told PEOPLE recently. "She's a cashier at Wal-Mart – it's a good change." :

Jessica wore a lavender leather jacket and tight jeans to the dinner and was also joined by her costar, Cook.

The Simpson family is no stranger to New Mexico. As residents of nearby Texas, the family has vacationed in Northern New Mexico several times, and has spent time skiing in Red River.

She probably has to take lessons on how to run a cash register. Could you just see her, you put your groceries on the belt, she looks at you with that vapid look all the while twirling her gum with one hand and her hair with another!!

Is Homer.....er, Joe......insinuating that a Wal Mart cashier can't be a "sex kitten" too? If a Pizza Hut waitress can be a sex kitten, then why not a Wal Mart cashier?

How creepy is it to have a father talking about his own daughter that way?

OK I just read the rest of it again.....isn't Dane Cook that 'comic' who did the skit on SNL dressed as a female clerk? Is this what he's playing in this movie too?

aww.. i love dane cook. love love love dane cook. i feel bad that i may have to go see this movie- maybe i will just close my eyes or go for that inevitable pee break during her scenes.
